IRS agent called and just said 'Keep on' then hung up - Is this legit or scam?
Just got the weirdest call from someone claiming to be from the IRS. They just said keep on and hung up. Has anyone gotten a call like this? Should I be worried? I'm waiting on my refund from last year still.

This is 100% a scam. The IRS will never call you out of the blue like this. They communicate through official letters in the mail. If they need to speak with you, they'll send a letter first requesting you to call them or schedule an appointment.

Hey, if you're worried about your refund status, I've been using taxr.ai to track mine. Its only $1 and it actually explains everything going on with your transcript in plain english. Way better than trying to decode those cryptic IRS messages. https://taxr.ai

Block that number immediately! Probably trying to scam elderly people who might fall for it.

Report it to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA). They track these scam calls.

Def a scam but ngl this is kinda hilarious. Usually they try harder with the whole 'youre going to jail' routine

Classic scam call! The IRS will NEVER call you without sending official mail first. Real IRS communications are always formal and documented. That "keep on" message is probably some confused scammer who doesn't even know what they're supposed to be saying lol. Just ignore it and don't give out any personal info if they call back. Your refund status can be checked on the official IRS website - much safer than random phone calls!
