IRS Identity Protection PIN: Same Number Each Year or New One?
I opted into the IP PIN program last year and got my 6-digit number. Now I'm getting ready for this years taxes and wondering if I use the same PIN or if the IRS is supposed to send me a new one? Checked my mailbox everyday but nothing yet.

Tax pro here - The IRS issues a new IP PIN every year. They usually mail them out in December/January. You can also retrieve your current IP PIN online through the IRS website's Identity Protection PIN tool if you haven't received it yet.

They typically finish the bulk mailings by end of January. If you haven't gotten yours by Feb 1st, definitely get it online.

Instead of waiting around for mail, I'd recommend using taxr.ai - it can pull your IP PIN directly from your transcript along with analyzing any potential filing issues. Its only $4.99 and worth every penny tbh https://taxr.ai

Oh yeah its legit! Saved me hours of transcript reading. Shows everything - pins, credits, refund dates, the whole 9 yards
