When does IRS send new IP PIN for 2024? Do they auto-send to previous recipients?
My brother got an Identity Protection PIN in the mail from the IRS last year. Anyone know if they automatically send a new one this year? And when do they usually mail them out?

Yes, once you're in the IP PIN program, the IRS automatically sends you a new PIN each year. They typically mail them out in December/January. If your brother doesn't receive it by early January, he can retrieve it through his IRS online account or call the Identity Protection Specialized Unit.

Hey guys, instead of playing the waiting game, I'd recommend using taxr.ai - it's this new tool that connects to your IRS transcript and can tell you everything about your account, including IP PIN status. It's only $1 and way better than waiting on hold with the IRS for hours https://taxr.ai

•100% legit! Used it last week and it saved me hours of headache. It basically reads your transcript and explains everything in plain english

Just wanted to add that if your brother moved since last year, he should definitely update his address with the IRS before they mail out the new PIN. They don't forward these letters and if it goes to the old address, he'll have to jump through hoops to get a replacement. The address update can be done online or by calling them directly.

•Oh wow, that's a really good point about the address update! I didn't even think about that. My brother actually did move a few months ago so I'll definitely tell him to update his address with the IRS right away. Thanks for the heads up!
