IRS Check Forwarding to New Address - How Long Does it Take?

I moved recently and my tax refund check is being sent to my old address. Already updated my address with USPS but wondering if anyone has dealt with this. Getting worried about my refund check being lost in the mail.

I work at USPS. If you've filed a forwarding request, your check should automatically be forwarded to your new address. Typically takes an extra 5-7 business days on top of normal delivery time. Just make sure your forwarding request is active.

Yeah they'll put a yellow forwarding sticker on it. You'll know it's been forwarded when you get it 👍

Make sure you also changed your address directly with the IRS using Form 8822. USPS forwarding is temporary but updating with IRS is permanent
