IRS 810 Freeze - Will W2, Invoice, and $4,350 Cash Receipt From 9/24/23 Be Sufficient for Household Employee Verification?
Got an 810 freeze code on my refund related to household employee verification. I'm trying to get this resolved and need advice on what documentation to provide. One of the main documents I have is a cash receipt for my nanny payment: CASH RECEIPT No. 101 Date 09/26/2023 Received From Payment Method Cash Amount $4,450.00 For 00232 Received By: 26 Besides this cash receipt (#101), I also have my nanny's W2, detailed invoice, and other proof of payment documentation with reference number 00232. The cash payment was made on September 26th for $4,450.00. I'm wondering if these documentation types (W2, invoice, and the cash receipt showing proof of payment) are sufficient to upload to the IRS portal to resolve the 810 freeze code? Has anyone gone through this household employee verification process before? I want to make sure I'm submitting everything they need to verify my household employee situation and get this freeze lifted as quickly as possible. I'm worried about delays in my refund and want to ensure I provide exactly what they need the first time.

The cash receipt you have from September 24, 2023 (receipt #101) showing $4,350.00 matches your records, but this alone won't be sufficient for resolving an 810 freeze code. While the receipt includes a reference number (00232), the IRS requires more comprehensive documentation for household employee verification. For this type of freeze code, you'll need to submit: 1. The W2 you have for your nanny 2. Schedule H documentation 3. Proof of state employer registration 4. Documentation showing tax withholding calculations 5. Evidence of regular payroll processing The cash receipt format shown lacks critical employment tax information - there's no breakdown of withholding amounts or employer tax contributions. Also notable is that the receipt is missing the payer and recipient names, which the IRS typically requires for verification purposes. Consider supplementing this receipt with: - Payroll records showing tax calculations - Bank statements if available - State employer ID documentation - Copies of filed quarterly employment tax returns This will provide the complete documentation package the IRS needs to verify your household employment situation and lift the freeze.

ā¢You need your state employer ID registration, proof of quarterly tax payments if applicable, and Schedule H from your return. Without these, they might reject your documentation.

hey, I was stuck with the same issue last month. I used taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and it literally told me exactly what docs I needed to upload. Saved me from guessing and getting rejected again. It costs $1 but totally worth it https://taxr.ai

quick tip: make sure all your docs are clear scans and the amounts match exactly across everything. they'll reject for the smallest discrepancy

i work in payroll and see this alot. Make sure you have proof of FICA tax payments too. Thats usually what trips people up with the 810 code
