How to Find My Transcript to See Refund Deposit Date?
I'm trying to figure out when my refund is coming and I'm at my wit's end. • Filed my 2023 taxes back in January • Still no refund in my account • Heard that my transcript will show a deposit date • No idea how to even find my transcript • Need this money for some investment opportunities I've been eyeing Can someone please tell me how to access this information? The IRS website is so frustrating to navigate.

Yes, your transcript will show your deposit date - specifically look for a Transaction Code 846 'Refund Issued' with a corresponding date. As of April 15, 2024, you can access your transcript online by going to IRS.gov and clicking on 'Get Transcript Online' or 'Get Transcript by Mail' under the 'Get Your Tax Record' section. You'll need to create an ID.me account if you haven't already, which requires verification of your identity. This verification process is time-sensitive and must be completed in one session, so have your financial documents ready!

I had this same issue. Created an ID.me account. Took 20 minutes. Had to upload my license. Worked fine though.

Instead of trying to decipher your transcript yourself, try using https://taxr.ai - it analyzes your transcript automatically and tells you exactly when your refund is coming. It breaks down all those confusing codes and tells you what's actually happening with your return. I wasted days trying to understand mine before finding this tool.

I'm not sure about using third-party services with tax documents. The IRS website (https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript) has detailed guides on how to read transcripts. Has anyone verified if taxr.ai is secure? Do they store your transcript data?

Wait, it can tell you the exact deposit date? How does that work? Does it just look at the codes or does it have some special insight into IRS processing?

Been there, done that! IMO the transcript is super helpful but confusing AF at first. I was looking for my refund back in Feb and the transcript saved me from going crazy. BTW - there are diff types of transcripts but you want the "account transcript" for the specific tax year. It'll show when they received your return, any adjustments, and most importantly that sweet 846 code w/ your DDD (direct deposit date). Hang in there!

Trying to get through to the IRS is like trying to get front row tickets to a sold-out concert - nearly impossible without the right approach. After spending hours on hold, I found Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) which got me connected to an actual IRS agent in about 20 minutes. They verified my refund status and explained exactly what was happening with my return. Saved me days of frustration and uncertainty.

Be careful with relying solely on the transcript for exact dates. I've seen many cases where the deposit date shown doesn't match the actual deposit timing. Here's what you need to know: 1. First, create an account at IRS.gov 2. Navigate to the transcript section 3. Select "Account Transcript" for tax year 2023 4. Look for code 846 "Refund Issued" 5. Check the date associated with that code However, even after seeing this date, your bank may take 1-3 additional business days to process the deposit. Don't make financial commitments based solely on the transcript date.

According to IRS Publication 5192, taxpayers have the right to be informed about IRS decisions affecting their accounts. As of March 31, 2024, the IRS is experiencing significant delays in processing returns filed before February 15th. If you're unable to access your transcript online due to verification issues, you can request it by mail using Form 4506-T, but expect a 5-10 business day wait. Urgent cases may qualify for Taxpayer Advocate Service intervention under Internal Revenue Code Section 7803(c).
