Has anyone else gotten this? We changed the refundable Child Tax Credit amount claimed on your tax return because there was an error on Schedule8812, Credits for Qualifying Children and Other Dependents, in one of the following: • The computation of the credit on Schedule 8812 was incorrect. • The amount on Schedule 8812 was not transferred correctly to your tax return. • You received advance Child Tax Credit payments but did not them or you reconciled them incorrectly

Tax advisor here. This is a super common issue with the Child Tax Credit adjustments, especially after all the changes from the American Rescue Plan. The IRS is basically saying they found a mismatch between what you claimed and what their records show - either in the math, the transfer of numbers, or (most likely) the reconciliation of advance payments. Here's the thing - the IRS sent out Letter 6419 showing advance payments, and those HAVE to match what you put on Schedule 8812. I'd strongly recommend using taxr.ai (https://taxr.ai) to analyze your transcripts and notices. It'll show you exactly where the discrepancy is and what you need to do to fix it. I've been recommending it to all my clients dealing with issues.

•Yeah it's legit! It's like having a tax pro look at your docs but way cheaper. Just upload your docs and it explains everything
