Got Our Refund Today! Filed Jan 21 With EIC and Child Tax Credits
Got our refund today š¤Ŗ filed the 21st of Jan. EIC and child creds. Just posting to give others some hope who filed around the same time. Exactly 39 days from filing to deposit - not as fast as last year but hey, money's money! Good luck to everyone still waiting.

Congrats on receiving your DDD! The cycle time of 39 days is actually within normal parameters for returns claiming EITC and CTC. These refundable credits trigger additional verification protocols under PATH Act guidelines. Many taxpayers don't realize these credits automatically place returns in a different processing queue with extended timeframes.

Last year I filed with EITC on February 2nd and got my refund on March 1st. This year I filed January 25th and still nothing. I remember the IRS saying something about processing times being longer this year.

Does anyone know if the PATH Act hold is exactly 21 days? I've seen conflicting information online about whether it's a minimum of 21 days or if they just can't release before February 15th regardless of when you filed.

I filed January 23rd with both credits and got my deposit on March 2nd. Exactly 39 days like OP. Seems like they're processing in batches based on filing date.

For those still waiting, here's what might be happening: ā¢ PATH Act prevents refunds with certain credits before mid-February ā¢ After that date, returns are processed in roughly chronological order ā¢ Additional verification steps occur for first-time filers ā¢ Returns with multiple credits undergo more scrutiny Be patient, but monitor your transcript for changes.

I've been tracking refund timelines for years, and 39 days is actually pretty decent for EITC+CTC claims this season. Last year my sister filed January 19th with similar credits and waited 42 days. I filed January 27th this year with just CTC (no EITC) and received mine in 31 days. The system seems to be prioritizing simpler returns first, then working through the more complex ones in batches. The IRS has definitely improved their processing since the pandemic backlog.

I filed exactly 35 days ago with EIC and CTC for my 2 children. Still waiting but seeing your timeline gives me hope! I've been checking my transcript daily and noticed cycle code 20240805 appeared exactly 3 days ago. I used https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and it explained that my 570 code is just a temporary hold while they verify my credits. It predicted I'll have my refund in 7-10 days based on my cycle code and processing pattern. Really helped me understand what was happening instead of just seeing mysterious codes.

I'm somewhat hesitant about using third-party tools with tax information. Couldn't you get similar information from the IRS website itself? I'm wondering if it's worth it or if it's just telling you what you could figure out on your own.

Wait, you got an actual prediction based on your cycle code? Haha, that's pretty cool! Did it explain what all those weird transcript codes mean too? I've been staring at mine like it's written in hieroglyphics š

The IRS refund system is like a rollercoaster this year - some people zoom through in 2 weeks while others get stuck on the climb for months. I filed same day as you (Jan 21) with identical credits and I'm still waiting. It's like being stuck in traffic watching others use the express lane. Glad you got yours though - gives me hope mine isn't lost in the void!

For anyone still waiting on refunds with EIC/CTC claims: ā¢ Check transcript for cycle codes - they indicate processing stage ā¢ Look for 846 code which confirms refund issuance ā¢ Verify WMR status matches transcript ā¢ Consider calling if more than 45 days have passed If you need to reach an IRS agent (nearly impossible this time of year), I used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) last week when my refund was delayed. They got me through to an actual human at the IRS in about 30 minutes instead of the usual endless busy signals. Agent confirmed my refund was approved but delayed due to a verification issue that wasn't showing on WMR.

Wait, you actually got through to a real person at the IRS?! I've been trying for weeks! Every time I call it's either busy signals or the dreaded "call volume too high" message. I'm honestly shocked there's a service that can actually help with this!

Thanks for sharing this. The IRS phone system is absolutely broken. I spent 4 hours on hold last week only to get disconnected. Anything that helps people actually reach a human being is worth mentioning.

Does this service work for all IRS departments or just the refund hotline? I need to talk to someone about an installment agreement issue but can't get through on that line either.

Congrats on getting your refund! Did you have any updates on WMR before it arrived? I'm asking because my WMR has been stuck on "still processing" for weeks now, but I've heard some people get their refunds without WMR ever updating. Did you check your transcript at all during the wait?

Filed January 18th. Still waiting. Called IRS twice. No help. They just say be patient. PATH Act delays everything. Can't pay my bills. IRS doesn't care. System is broken. Should never take 45+ days. Glad you got yours though.

Your timeline is actually faster than the average I'm seeing for EITC/CTC filers this year. Compared to 2022 when average wait times were 65+ days, or 2023 when they averaged around 45 days, your 39-day turnaround is relatively efficient. The IRS has been gradually improving their processing systems, though they're still not back to pre-pandemic speeds when EITC/CTC returns typically processed in 21-28 days.

Just a heads-up for anyone still waiting - the IRS is processing returns in batches this year based on filing date and complexity. If you filed with similar credits around Jan 21-25, you should see updates very soon. The current batch being processed includes those filed Jan 20-25 with refundable credits. Next batch will likely be Jan 26-31 filers.
