IRS Transcript Shows Code 570 (Action Pending) After Receiving Letter 4464C for 60-Day Review - MFJ Return with $4,200 Withholding
Just checked my transcript and now there's activity after months of nothing! I can see that our return (Married Filing Joint with 02 exemptions) finally has some movement. Our AGI was $56,809.00 with taxable income of $29,109.00 and tax per return of $3,835.00. No self-employment income for either of us. The transcript shows: TRANSACTIONS CODE EXPLANATION OF TRANSACTION CYCLE DATE AMOUNT 150 Tax return filed 20241605 05-06-2024 $3,835.00 79211-429-31792-4 806 W-2 or 1099 withholding 04-15-2024 -$5,200.00 570 Additional account action pending 05-06-2024 $0.00 This Product Contains Sensitive Taxpayer Data But now I got this letter 4464C saying they need another 60 days to review my return. I'm worried about that code 570 (Additional account action pending). Anyone else stuck in this situation? The codes on my transcript finally updated but I have no idea what they mean or if this is good news or bad news. Our return due date was Apr. 15, 2024, and the processing date shows May 06, 2024. We had $5,200 in withholding but now we're stuck in this review. Does the 570 code mean they're going to audit us? Will this delay our refund even longer?

Tax pro here. Letter 4464C is a review letter, basically means they're verifying something on your return. Could be income verification, credits claimed, or other items that flagged their system. Best thing to do is wait it out - calling won't speed up the process.
