Hey everyone, I just got letter 4464c from the IRS. Anyone else dealing with this? What does it mean and what should I do next?

Oh man, I got that letter too. It's basically the IRS saying they need more time to process your return. Could be for a bunch of reasons - identity verification, math errors, or just backlog. Don't panic, but be prepared to wait.

Ugh, the waiting game sucks. I've been dealing with this for months now. š«

Same boat here. Any idea how long it usually takes?

It varies, but I've heard anywhere from 60 days to several months. The IRS is seriously backed up rn

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at the IRS. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Jc9x-gysK0

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo

How long did you have to wait after using the service?

Only about 20 minutes. Way better than the 3+ hours I spent trying to call on my own

Here's what I know about letter 4464c: ā¢ It's an Information Request Notice ā¢ The IRS needs more time to process your return ā¢ They might need additional info from you ā¢ You don't need to do anything unless they specifically ask ā¢ Processing can take up to 60 days, sometimes longer ā¢ If you don't hear back after 60 days, try calling them Hope this helps!

This is super helpful, thank you! Do you know if this will delay my refund?

Unfortunately, yes. Your refund will be held until they finish processing your return. Hang in there!

Has anyone tried contacting their local Taxpayer Advocate Service? I've heard they can sometimes help speed things up.

I tried, but they said they cant help unless its been more than 30 days past the normal processing time. š

Pro tip: Check your transcript on the IRS website. Sometimes it updates before you get any official notice about your return status.

This! šÆ The transcript has been way more helpful than the 'Where's My Refund' tool
