Filed Jointly Feb 3rd - Transcript Shows Single with Zeroes and WMR Only Says Received
Filed jointly on Feb 3rd. Checked transcript today. Shows no return filed. All zeroes. Says I'm single. WMR only shows received. Never waited this long for information. Need to know what's happening. Should I be concerned?

This discrepancy is actually quite common during the current processing season. Per IRS Publication 1345 (Rev. 2-2024), the transcript system and WMR database operate on separate update cycles. When your filing status shows incorrectly as 'single' with zero values, it typically indicates your return is in the pre-processing queue. According to recent IRS guidance, this status can persist for 4-6 weeks during peak filing periods, particularly for returns with schedule adjustments or verification requirements.

•Let me clarify this with some steps to help understand what's happening: 1. First, confirm your e-file was actually accepted (not just submitted) 2. Check if you received an acceptance confirmation number 3. Verify which transcript you're viewing (Account vs. Return transcript) 4. Consider if you claimed any credits that might delay processing Do you know if your return was officially accepted by the IRS after submission?

•I had the EXACT same thing happen last year! Filed jointly on Feb 5th and my transcript showed single with zeros until March 18th. I was freaking out thinking they lost my return or something. Then one morning everything updated at once and my refund hit my account 8 days later. The weird part was WMR never updated beyond the first bar for me either, even after I got paid.

•I'm in the exact same situation right now. Filed jointly on February 6th and transcript shows $0 with single status. We're expecting exactly $8,742 back and really need it for some medical bills. This thread is giving me some hope that it's just a normal delay and not something worse.

I've seen this issue multiple times this season. Have you considered using a transcript analyzer? • Transcript showing zeros usually means it's in queue • Filing status mismatch is a common display glitch • WMR and transcript systems update separately • Processing can take 21+ days during peak season I've been recommending https://taxr.ai to clients in similar situations. It can analyze your transcript once it updates and explain what each code means for your specific situation. Helps predict when you'll actually receive funds too.

I've seen this exact scenario before. On January 29th last year, I filed jointly with my wife. Checked on February 14th - transcript showed single with zeros. By March 2nd, everything updated correctly. The IRS systems don't always talk to each other right away. Your return is probably in the verification queue, especially if you filed on February 3rd during the peak season rush.

This is def a common situation w/ the IRS systems. Ur return is prob in the verification queue. If u need to confirm status ASAP, calling the IRS is ur best bet but GL getting thru their phone system rn. I used https://claimyr.com last week when I had a similar issue - got connected to an IRS agent in ~30 mins vs spending days trying to get thru. Agent confirmed my return was just waiting in queue & nothing was wrong. Saved me tons of stress.

•I'm not convinced these services are worth it. The IRS will eventually process the return regardless. Paying for a call service seems unnecessary when you can just wait or try calling early in the morning. Has anyone verified this service actually works as promised and doesn't just take your money?

•Like preparing for a hurricane only to get a light drizzle, I was skeptical too. But after 14 attempts calling the IRS myself over 3 days, I finally used Claimyr. Got through in 22 minutes while I was cooking dinner. Didn't have to sit there hitting redial like a maniac. Sometimes paying a little to save hours of frustration is completely worth it.

According to irs.gov/refunds, processing should take 21 days max for e-filed returns. You're at 35+ days now. Has anyone checked if there might be identity verification issues? The IRS Operational Status page (https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-operations) doesn't mention any systemic delays right now. Maybe your return got flagged for manual review?

•Hate to break it to you, but that 21-day thing is more like a suggestion than a rule 😂. The IRS is still digging out from their backlog. I've seen perfectly clean returns take 6+ weeks this season. Manual reviews are happening for the weirdest reasons too - had mine flagged because my W-2 employer EIN had a typo from THEIR end. The system is basically held together with digital duct tape at this point.

Isn't it interesting how the IRS has different systems that don't communicate well with each other? Your return is likely fine. Have you checked your e-file confirmation from your tax software? That's your proof the IRS received it. The transcript system often shows zeros until processing completes. Many returns are taking 30-45 days this year despite what the IRS claims. Patience is unfortunately the name of the game with tax refunds.
