Filed 2/1 with 1099 & EIC - Transcript Still Blank?

I filed exactly 42 days ago on 2-1-2025 with a 1099 and claimed EIC. My transcripts are completely blank when I check them. Shouldn't there be some indication of processing by now? Filed electronically and got confirmation. Any input on timeline for 1099 filers appreciated.

This could be normal, though I understand your concern. Sometimes transcripts don't update immediately, especially during peak filing season. The IRS might be taking additional time to process returns with 1099 income and EIC claims. These typically undergo additional verification steps. I would suggest waiting perhaps another week before becoming too concerned. Many returns with credits are taking longer this year due to verification procedures.

Is there a specific timeframe when 1099 filers should expect to see transcript updates? And does claiming EIC automatically flag for review even with proper documentation?

This is probably what's happening in my case too. I was getting worried because my transcript has been blank for about 3 weeks, but I also claimed EIC with 1099 income. It's somewhat reassuring to know this might be normal processing.

Really appreciate this perspective. Sometimes it's hard to distinguish between normal processing delays and actual problems with a return. This context helps tremendously.

Ur def not alone. Got same issue rn with my 1099-NEC + EIC filing from 2/3. WMR shows received but transcripts = nada. IRS is super backed up w/ contractor returns this yr. Heard they're taking like 6-8 wks vs the usual 3-4. Just gotta wait it out tbh.

Have you checked if your return might be caught in the Identity Verification backlog? Many 1099 filers with EIC are getting flagged for verification this year. Are you certain your AGI from last year matched what the IRS has on file? Could there be any discrepancies between your reported 1099 income and what was submitted by your clients? These factors often cause delays that result in blank transcripts.

It's like being stuck in tax limbo, isn't it? I wonder if calling the IRS would even help at this point or just waste time. Would they be able to tell if the return is stuck in identity verification or just normal processing?

I had this exact situation last year with my 1099 income. Turned out one of my clients reported a different amount than what I received. The difference was only $50 but it caused a 2-month delay while they sorted it out.

I was in the EXACT same situation with my 1099 and EIC. Blank transcript for 7 weeks straight. I finally got through to the IRS after using Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) - their service connected me to an agent in 18 minutes when I'd been trying for days. Agent confirmed my return was in the EIC review queue and gave me an estimate for completion. Worth the money since I needed that refund for bills.

Did the IRS agent actually provide useful information? I've heard mixed things about calling - sometimes they just tell you to keep waiting without giving any specific details about your return.

Thanks for sharing this! Been trying to get through to the IRS for days about my similar situation. Might have to check this out if my transcript doesn't update by next week.

Your transcript status is consistent with the IRS's processing protocols for returns containing Schedule C income and refundable credits. The Earned Income Credit undergoes systemic verification against Form 1099 data submitted by payers. In my experience as a preparer, transcript availability for 1099+EIC filers typically occurs 45-60 days post-submission in the current processing environment. The IRTF database and CSED calculations often delay transcript population until initial verification passes.

Have you received any letters in the mail? Sometimes they'll send a verification letter but your transcript will still show blank until you respond. It's so frustrating when you're waiting for your money!

Last year my transcript stayed blank for 58 days after filing with 1099 income and EIC. Then suddenly updated with a DDD for the following week. No explanation, no contact from IRS, just suddenly processed. 2023 was 37 days, 2022 was 42 days. It's definitely taking longer each year for us independent contractors.
