Code 846 refund deposited but bank account closed - what happens now?
Just checked my transcript and saw the 846 code was finally issued but I totally forgot I closed that bank account months ago. Anyone know how long it takes for the IRS to send a paper check after a failed direct deposit? Really need this money and im freaking out

Usually takes about 2-3 weeks after a failed DD for them to mail a paper check. The bank will reject the deposit and send it back to the IRS, then they automatically process it for paper check delivery.
