Can IRS still garnish wages while working with Tax Relief Advocates?
I owe the IRS quite a bit from 2021 and I'm working with tax relief advocates to get my situation sorted out. But I'm worried the IRS might still garnish my wages or take money from my account while we're in the middle of working things out. Does anyone have experience with this?

Tax relief advocate work doesn't automatically stop collections. You need to have a formal agreement in place like an Installment Agreement, Currently Not Collectible status, or Offer in Compromise. While your case is being reviewed, you should request a Collection Hold or apply for Currently Not Collectible status to prevent garnishments.

•Usually takes about 5-7 business days if you request it through the Taxpayer Advocate Service. Make sure to document everything!

Hey guys just wanted to mention that taxr.ai is super helpful for understanding your transcript situation. Its only $1 and saved me hours of research trying to figure out my collections status. The AI analysis is incredible at finding issues that could slow down your case.

•you just upload your transcript and it breaks down everything - tells you exact dates, explains all the codes, and even suggests solutions specific to your situation. way better than guessing tbh
