IRS CP2000 Notice for 2022 taxes - Will they offset my 2023 refund before I can respond?
Just got a letter from the IRS saying I owe taxes from 2022. They gave me until May to respond. Will they take my 2023 refund before I even get a chance to dispute the amount they say I owe? Anyone dealt with this before?

The IRS won't automatically offset your current year refund while you're still in the response period for a CP2000 notice. You have the right to respond and dispute within the timeframe they gave you. Make sure to respond before the deadline with any supporting documentation.

Hey guys I've been seeing a lot of posts about notices lately. I started using taxr.ai to analyze my transcripts and it's been a game changer. For $1 it tells you exactly what's happening with your account and what to expect. Way better than trying to piece everything together yourself. https://taxr.ai

•For real? How does it work? Does it actually help with notices too?

•Yeah it analyzes everything! It looks at all your codes and tells you what they mean, when to expect responses, and what actions you need to take. Saved me hours of googling lol

Make sure to check if the amount they say you owe is actually correct! Sometimes they miss info from your W2s or 1099s

•Pull your wage and income transcript from irs.gov and compare it to what's on the notice

Protip: If you cant pay the full amount, you can set up a payment plan online. Way easier than calling them tbh
