Best ways to actually reach an IRS agent in 2025? All numbers are dead ends
I've been trying to reach the IRS for weeks now. Every number I call leads to a automated message saying they're too busy or hangs up on me. I've tried calling at different times, different days, still no luck. I need to talk to someone about my refund status. Anyone know any tricks to get through?

Former IRS employee here. Best time to call is Tuesday-Thursday between 7am-9am EST. Call 1-800-829-1040. When prompted, choose option 2 for 'personal income tax', then 1 for 'form questions', then 3 for 'all other questions', then 2 for 'all other issues'. Stay on the line no matter what.
