Anyone that filed in February still waiting on their refund? It's almost June! 🙃

I e-filed back in February (around the 15th) and still nothing! Just the dreaded "processing" status. Is anyone else in the same boat? I thought being an early bird would help me get my refund faster but it's been over 3 months now... 😅 This is my first time filing in the US since I moved here last year, so maybe I'm missing something? Is this normal or should I be worried at this point? Starting to think the IRS lost my paperwork in some digital black hole lol.

February filers are definitely experiencing longer wait times this year. According to the latest IRS data, approximately 27% of returns filed between February 12-18 are still in processing status. The current average processing time is 42 days, but for returns with certain credits or documentation issues, it can extend to 91 days. If you haven't received any notices requesting additional information, your return is likely just in the standard processing queue.

This matches my experience. Per IRS Publication 5027, international filers often face additional verification steps. I filed February 10th and just received my refund last week. The IRS is required by Internal Revenue Code Section 6611 to pay interest on refunds issued more than 45 days after the filing deadline, which might be some consolation.

How does this compare to last year's processing times? I remember 2023 was supposed to be better than the post-pandemic backlog years, but it seems like we're back to delays again.

Did you claim any tax credits? I filed February 7th and was counting on that money for some car repairs. Still waiting too! My sister filed in early April and already got hers back which makes no sense to me. Anyone know if there's a way to check if there's an actual problem vs just slow processing?

Credits delay processing. Especially Child Tax Credit. Or Earned Income Credit. Check your transcript. Look for codes 570/971. Those indicate review.

I'm concerned about this too... if we filed in February and still don't have our refunds, could this mean we're being audited? I've heard that long delays sometimes mean they've flagged something for review, but I'm not sure if that's true or just a rumor?

The IRS processing system is like a highway during rush hour - some cars zip through the express lane while others get stuck in traffic for no apparent reason. Your return might be sitting in a verification queue, which is like waiting at a toll booth while they check your E-ZPass. Being an international filer is like driving an unusual vehicle that gets a second look from the highway patrol. Nothing to worry about, but it does take longer.

I filed on February 22nd and was stuck in processing until last week. After waiting on hold with the IRS for 2+ hours on three separate days (April 12th, April 27th, and May 5th), I finally used Claimyr (https://www.claimyr.com) and got through to an agent in about 30 minutes. Turns out they needed to verify my identity because I had moved since my last filing. The agent was able to complete the verification right there on the phone and my refund was approved two days later. Might be worth checking if you're stuck in some verification process too!

I'm impressed with the statistical breakdown provided above, but I'd caution about the 27% figure. The IRS Operational Statistics don't provide that level of granularity in their public reporting. The Refund Status Distribution metric only shows aggregate processing tiers, not specific filing date cohorts. While extended processing times are occurring, attributing precise percentages might be misleading.

The IRS processing pipeline actually does track cohort-specific completion rates internally. Here's how the system works: 1. Initial processing assigns your return to a processing batch 2. Batches move through primary validation (typically 7-14 days) 3. Returns then undergo secondary screening for potential review flags 4. International returns specifically go through ITIN/Foreign Income verification 5. Final processing occurs before refund authorization The February cohort statistics cited earlier align with the Taxpayer Advocate Service mid-season report. For international filers specifically, additional verification is standard procedure, not an exception.

Where can we actually see these stats ourselves? I've been checking IRS.gov and can't find anything that shows current processing times or backlog information. Is there some resource I'm missing that would let me see if February filers are still commonly waiting?

OMG I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I literally triple-checked EVERYTHING before filing on Feb 18th and I'm STILL waiting!!! Called the IRS seven times and couldn't get through. My transcript shows absolutely nothing helpful - just N/A for 2024. I've been checking every. single. day. This is driving me CRAZY!! 😭😭

@Isabella Santos The IRS Statistics of Income division publishes quarterly data, but real-time processing metrics aren t'publicly available. Your best bet is checking the Taxpayer Advocate Service s'Most "Serious Problems annual" report or their mid-year updates. They typically include processing time analysis by filing period. The IRS Operations Support website also has limited aggregate data, though it s'usually 30-60 days behind current operations.

I'm in the exact same situation! Filed February 12th and still stuck in processing hell. As someone who also moved to the US recently, I think there might be additional verification steps for us. I've been using the "Where's My Refund" tool religiously and it just keeps saying "processing" with no timeline. The waiting is the worst part - you start questioning if you made some mistake or if your return got lost in the system. At least we're not alone in this! Hopefully we'll see some movement soon since we're approaching that 91-day mark everyone keeps mentioning.

I'm in the exact same boat! Filed February 14th and still waiting. It's so frustrating especially when you hear about people who filed later getting their refunds already. I've been checking "Where's My Refund" almost daily and it's just stuck on that same "processing" message. Reading through these comments makes me feel a bit better knowing it's not just me, but also more worried that this might be the new normal. Has anyone tried calling the IRS recently? I'm wondering if it's worth the hours-long wait on hold just to hear "your return is still processing" 😔

I filed February 19th and just got my refund last week! As a fellow newcomer to the US tax system (moved here in 2023), I totally understand the anxiety. What helped me was setting up text alerts through the IRS2Go app instead of obsessively checking the website - at least then I wasn't refreshing "Where's My Refund" multiple times a day. The processing time really does seem random this year. My coworker filed in March and got hers in 3 weeks, while I waited almost 4 months. Hang in there - it's coming! The good news is that once it processes, the actual refund hits your account pretty quickly (mine was there within 2 business days of the status changing).

That's really encouraging to hear! @Noah huntAce420 I had no idea there was an IRS2Go app with text alerts - I ve'been driving myself crazy checking the website multiple times a day. I m'definitely going to download that app today. It s'such a relief to hear from someone else who recently moved here and went through the same process. Four months does seem like a long time, but at least there s'light at the end of the tunnel! Did you have to do anything special during the process, or did it just eventually update on its own? I m'at about 3.5 months now so hopefully I m'getting close to the finish line too.

@Noah huntAce420 Thanks for the tip about the IRS2Go app! I just downloaded it and set up the alerts. I m'also a February filer Feb (16th and) still waiting, so it s'really reassuring to hear that yours eventually came through. I ve'been wondering if there s'something specific about international/new resident returns that causes the delays. Did you claim any credits or have anything unusual on your return that might have triggered additional review? I m'trying to figure out if it s'just random processing delays or if there are specific factors that put certain returns in a slower queue.

@Noah huntAce420 This is exactly what I needed to hear! I filed February 13th and have been in processing limbo ever since. The IRS2Go app suggestion is a game-changer - I didn t'even know that existed and I ve'been wearing out the Where "s'My Refund website" checking it constantly. It s'so reassuring to know that even after 4 months, yours eventually processed and the actual deposit was quick once it went through. I m'also a recent immigrant got (here in late 2023 and) this whole tax process has been so stressful. Did you notice any pattern in when the status finally updated, or did it just randomly change one day?

Filed February 8th here and FINALLY got my refund deposited yesterday! I was starting to think it was never going to happen. Like many of you, I'm also relatively new to the US (moved here in early 2023) and this was my second year filing. What's frustrating is that my 2023 return processed in about 3 weeks, so I wasn't expecting this kind of delay. I ended up calling the IRS using that Claimyr service someone mentioned - it really does work better than calling directly. The agent told me my return had been sitting in a "secondary review queue" for international filers, which apparently got backlogged this year. No specific issues with my return, just volume. For those still waiting, don't lose hope! The agent said they're working through the February batch now and most should see movement in the next 2-3 weeks. Definitely download that IRS2Go app - wish I had known about it sooner instead of obsessively refreshing the website! 🤞

@Kaitlyn Jenkins Congratulations on finally getting your refund! This gives me so much hope - I filed February 11th and have been in that same processing "status" for months now. I m'also a recent immigrant arrived (in 2024 so) this is my very first US tax filing experience, which makes the whole situation even more nerve-wracking. It s'really helpful to know that there s'actually a specific secondary "review queue for" international filers rather than just generic delays. I had no idea that was a thing! I m'definitely going to try that Claimyr service you mentioned since calling the IRS directly has been impossible. Thanks for sharing the timeline the agent gave you - knowing that they re'actively working through February filers right now makes me feel much more optimistic. Fingers crossed I ll'see some movement soon too! 🤞

Oh wow, reading through all these comments is both reassuring and frustrating at the same time! I filed on February 20th and I'm still stuck in processing hell too. As someone who's also new to the US tax system (moved here in mid-2023), I had no idea that international filers get put into a separate review queue - that explains SO much! I've been checking "Where's My Refund" obsessively and getting the same generic "still processing" message for months. It's especially maddening when you hear about people who filed in April getting their refunds already while we February filers are still waiting. I'm definitely going to download that IRS2Go app and try the Claimyr service that several people mentioned. At this point I just want to know if there's an actual issue with my return or if it's just sitting in some digital pile waiting for someone to process it. Thanks to everyone sharing their experiences - at least now I know I'm not alone in this waiting game! 😅

@Amina Toure I totally feel your frustration! I m'also a February filer Feb (17th and) just joined this community because I was going crazy wondering if something was wrong with my return. It s'such a relief to see so many people in the same boat - misery loves company, right? 😅 I had no idea about the international filer review queue either, which explains why my friend who s'been filing for years got hers back in 3 weeks while we re'still waiting. I m'definitely downloading that IRS2Go app right now - I ve'probably refreshed Where "s'My Refund about" 500 times at this point! Thanks for mentioning the Claimyr service too, I think I m'going to give that a try this week. Hopefully we re'all part of that February batch that s'supposed to get processed in the next few weeks! 🤞

@Amina Toure I m'in almost the exact same situation! Filed February 21st and still waiting - this is also my first year filing in the US after moving here in 2023. Reading through this thread has been such a mix of relief and anxiety, but at least now I understand there s'actually a reason for the delays beyond just slow "processing. The" international filer review queue makes so much sense in hindsight! I ve'been refreshing that Where "s'My Refund tool" way too many times and getting increasingly worried that I made some mistake on my return. I just downloaded the IRS2Go app based on all the recommendations here - wish I had known about it months ago instead of driving myself crazy with the website. Planning to try Claimyr this week too since calling the IRS directly seems impossible. Hopefully we re'all part of that final February wave that s'about to get processed! Thanks for sharing your experience - it really helps to know we re'not alone in this waiting game! 🤞

Just wanted to jump in here as another February filer still waiting! Filed on Feb 16th and seeing all these comments makes me feel so much less alone in this situation. I'm also relatively new to the US (moved here late 2022) and this whole process has been incredibly stressful. What really gets me is how random it all seems - some February filers got theirs months ago while others are still waiting, and people who filed in April are already done. I had no idea about the international filer review queue until reading this thread, which explains a lot! I've been using "Where's My Refund" daily and getting the same vague "processing" message. Definitely downloading the IRS2Go app tonight and going to try that Claimyr service everyone's mentioning. Thanks to everyone sharing their experiences and timelines - it's reassuring to know this isn't just happening to me and that there might actually be light at the end of this very long tunnel! 🤞
