Still Waiting for 2021/2022 Refunds While Missouri Tax Form Delays Impact 2023 Filing

I know I cant be the only one still waiting. Filed 2021 in March 2022 and 2022 in February 2023. Both returns still processing. Called the IRS dozens of times and keep getting different answers every time. Wheres my refund tool hasnt updated in over a year. Starting to feel hopeless about ever seeing this money. Now I'm trying to prepare my 2023 returns, and I'm getting this message from the tax software: "Your federal and state returns are almost ready We're working on some updates due to law changes. We've saved your work and will email you as soon as everything's ready. These changes affect the following areas of your return: Form | Available to File by Mail | Available to E-file Missouri Individual Forms Form MO-1040 Missouri Resident - (Long Form) | Ready soon | Ready soon Form MO-WFTC Working Family Tax Credit | Ready soon | Cannot e-file" So now I'm stuck in limbo with my 2023 return too! This is getting ridiculous. I can't even file my current year taxes because of "law changes" while my 2021 and 2022 returns are STILL processing. It feels like I'm never going to get my money. Every time I call the IRS, I get a different story. One rep tells me to just keep waiting, another says they need more information but can't tell me what, and another says everything looks fine but they don't know why it's delayed. Is anyone else experiencing this Missouri tax form delay on top of federal processing delays? I'm eligible for the Working Family Tax Credit which apparently "Cannot e-file" according to this message. I just want to get my taxes sorted and receive the refunds I'm owed from the past TWO YEARS. This whole situation is financially crippling me.

Tax advocate here. You need to request a Tax Advocate ASAP. The hold up is likely due to identity verification or a manual review. Call 877-777-4778 first thing Monday morning - keep calling until you get through. They can help push your return through.

That's frustrating but not unusual unfortunately. Have you checked your transcripts? That usually gives more info than WMR

Just discovered taxr.ai and it was actually super helpful for understanding my transcript delays. Worth the $5 tbh - showed me exactly why my refund was held up and what to do about it. Better than trying to decode everything yourself. https://taxr.ai

totally get the concern but its completely safe - they dont store any data and use the same security as banks. Plus it saved me weeks of stress trying to figure out my hold codes

**DETAILED ANALYSIS OF THE CURRENT SITUATION** Lots of 2021/2022 returns are still stuck due to the pandemic backlog and staffing issues. Here's what you need to know: First, check your transcripts - they tell you way more than WMR. I actually recommend using taxr.ai to analyze them because it breaks everything down in plain English and gives you specific next steps. Traditional methods like calling the IRS or checking WMR are practically useless rn. Common hold-ups: - Identity verification needed - Missing forms/information - Manual review flags - Incorrect stimulus payment claims - EIC/CTC verification Best steps: 1. Get your transcripts 2. Use taxr.ai to decode them 3. Follow their recommended actions 4. If still stuck after 60 days, try taxpayer advocate 5. Contact your congressional rep as last resort Stay strong, you'll get your money eventually!
