2021 Tax Return Still Processing - IRS Stalled for 2+ Years While CA FTB Shows Future Refund Date of Jan 2025

Filed my 2021 return in March 2022 and still nothing. The WMR tool just shows processing and my transcript has no updates since May 2022. Called IRS multiple times and keep getting different answers. Some say to just wait, others say there's no record. Already verified my identity twice. I just checked the California FTB website though, and there I actually got a different message that confused me even more. The website shows: "Your Refund Results Received Processing Issued We authorized your refund on Sunday, January 26, 2025. Please allow: 10 business days to receive your refund by direct deposit, or 25 business days to receive your refund by check. If we made any adjustments to your return, we will notify you by mail." This makes no sense to me. How can California have authorized my refund for a date in the future (2025) when I filed my 2021 return in 2022? Is this some kind of system error? The federal IRS tools don't show anything, but California's FTB website is showing this bizarre authorization date. I'm completely confused now - federal says nothing is happening, California says refund is authorized for a date that hasn't even happened yet. Starting to lose my mind here. Does anyone understand what might be going on?
