Anyone else have a 570 code on their transcript? Got a review letter saying 60 day wait

Hey tax friends! Anyone else currently dealing with a 570 code on their transcript? Just got a letter saying they're reviewing my return for accuracy and it could take up to 60 days. This has never happened to me before in all my years filing. Last year and the year before, my refund was processed within 2 weeks. I'm a bit concerned since I just graduated and was counting on this refund. Did I mess something up? Anyone know what might trigger this kind of review?

Yep, lots of ppl getting these this yr. Code 570 = temp freeze on ur refund while they review smth. Could be anything from income verification to credit eligibility. Most common triggers rn are EIC claims, major income changes from prev yr, or mismatches btwn ur reported income & what employers submitted. Avg resolution time is ~45 days but I've seen it go faster. Wouldn't panic yet but def keep an eye on transcript updates.

Do you know if there's a way to find out exactly what they're reviewing? Is it worth calling them about this, or will they just tell me to wait for the letter?

Thank you for this explanation. According to Internal Revenue Manual 21.5.6.4.7, the 570 code indicates a pending action that suspends processing. I've been waiting patiently for 32 days now with this code. Helps to know it's a common occurrence this year.

I think I might have this too... my WMR just says it's still processing. Is there a way to tell if you have a 570 without looking at the actual transcript? I'm not sure how to access that...

Just went through this exact situation. Used https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and it explained exactly what was causing my 570 code - in my case it was an income verification issue. The tool predicted I'd get resolution in about 35 days and it was spot on. Saved me hours of stressing and trying to decipher IRS codes. Their explanation was way clearer than anything on the IRS site.

Is this really safe to use? I'm always careful about entering my tax information into third-party sites. How exactly does it work? Do you have to upload your actual transcript or just enter the codes manually?

I've used it too. You just upload your transcript PDF or screenshot. It uses AI to read the codes and dates, then explains what's happening. Much easier than trying to Google every code individually, which is what I was doing before.

Like building a puzzle without the picture! That's what deciphering my transcript felt like before using this tool. I had a 570/971 combo last month and was completely lost about what it meant for my timeline. The predictions were within 2 days of my actual deposit date.

I may need to look into this... I've been trying to understand my transcript for weeks now, and I'm still not sure what's happening with my return. Could be helpful to get some clarity, especially since the IRS website explanations are somewhat vague.

I had the same situation earlier this tax season. Here's what happened: • Got 570 code in early February • Received letter about accuracy review 1 week later • No movement for exactly 31 days • Then suddenly got 571 code (freeze released) • Refund deposited 5 days after that My review was related to education credits I claimed. They didn't request any additional documentation - just verified what I submitted. Stay patient and keep checking your transcript weekly.

Got stuck in the same boat last month! Called the IRS regular number for THREE DAYS straight and couldn't get through. Finally used Claimyr (https://www.claimyr.com) and got connected to an agent in about 15 minutes. Turns out they just needed to verify my income from a side gig, and the agent was able to clear it right over the phone. Sometimes these reviews can be resolved quickly if you can just talk to a human... which is the hard part, haha!

Don't wait for them to contact you. Be proactive. Call the IRS directly. Ask specifically about the 570 code. Request a taxpayer advocate if needed. They're free. Send any requested documentation immediately. Keep detailed records of all communications. This worked for me.

Did you claim any unusual credits or deductions this year compared to your previous returns? I've noticed these 570 reviews tend to happen when there's a significant change in filing pattern - like when I suddenly claimed home office deductions after years of standard returns, or when my sister started claiming her education expenses.

Why is this happening to so many people this year? Is the IRS just understaffed and flagging returns randomly? How are we supposed to plan our finances when they can just hold our money for 60+ days without explanation? I'm on day 47 of my 570 "review" and still nothing. Called multiple times and get different answers each time. Just venting, but this system is broken.
