IRS Amendment Completed Letter Said DD on 11/4 for $22,674 Refund But "As Of" Date Changed to 11/25 - Still No Deposit

Got a letter from IRS saying my amendment was completed on 10/17 with direct deposit scheduled for 11/4. Still nothing in my account. Just checked my transcript and now the as of date changed to 11/25. Anyone know what this means or experiencing something similar? Here's my transcript info: Internal Revenue Service United States Department of the Treasury This Product Contains Sensitive Taxpayer Data Request Date: 11-16-2024 Response Date: 11-16-2024 Account Transcript FORM TAX PERIOD: Dec. 31, 2023 NUMBER: 89 ANY MINUS SIGN SHOWN BELOW SIGNIFIES A CREDIT AMOUNT ACCOUNT BALANCE: -$22,674.00 ACCRUED INTEREST: $0.00 AS OF: Nov. 25, 2024 ACCRUED PENALTY: $0.00 AS OF: Nov. 25, 2024 ACCOUNT BALANCE PLUS ACCRUALS (this is not a payoff amount): -$22,674.00 INFORMATION FROM THE RETURN OR AS ADJUSTED EXEMPTIONS: 01 FILING STATUS: Single ADJUSTED GROSS INCOME: $154,044.00 TAXABLE INCOME: $140,194.00 TAX PER RETURN: $17,251.00 SE TAXABLE INCOME TAXPAYER: $0.00 SE TAXABLE INCOME SPOUSE: $0.00 TOTAL SELF EMPLOYMENT TAX: $0.00 RETURN DUE DATE OR RETURN RECEIVED DATE (WHICHEVER IS LATER) Apr. 15, 2024 PROCESSING DATE Apr. 29, 2024 TRANSACTIONS CODE EXPLANATION OF TRANSACTION | CYCLE | DATE | AMOUNT 150 Tax return filed | 20241505 | 04-29-2024 | $17,251.00 70221-436-52256-4 806 W-2 or 1099 withholding | | 04-15-2024 | -$46,784.00 810 Refund freeze | | 03-28-2024 | $0.00 971 Amended tax return or claim | | 07-17-2024 | $0.00 forwarded for processing I'm so confused because I have a large refund of $22,674.00 showing, and the letter specifically said direct deposit would happen 11/4. It's been almost two weeks since then and nothing has hit my account. The "AS OF" date changed from the previous date to November 25th now. Does this mean they're not processing my refund until 11/25? Has anyone else experienced this type of delay after receiving a completion letter? I filed my amendment back in July (see the 971 code from 07-17-2024), and I thought I was finally going to get my refund!

Tax expert here - The as of date changing is actually pretty normal and doesn't necessarily mean anything about your refund timing. What matters more is the completion date on your amendment. Since you got an official notice with a DD date, I'd give it 1-2 more weeks before getting concerned.

Give it till end of next week. If nothing by then, definitely worth giving them a call 👍

Hey! Instead of stressing over transcript dates, you should try taxr.ai - it's this new tool that analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's happening with your refund. It costs $1 but totally worth it for the peace of mind. https://taxr.ai

Did u file the amendment yourself or use a tax preparer? Sometimes that makes a difference with the timeline

used turbotax to amend

that might explain the delay tbh. self-filed amendments sometimes take extra processing time
