Amended Return for $15,660 Refund Stuck Since May - As Of Date Changed to Nov 25, What's Next?
Filed my taxes end of January, got hit with a refund freeze in February. After verification in March, I had to amend in May. My refund amount is showing -$15,660.00 on my account transcript with an as of date of November 25, 2024. Looking at my transcript, I can see: ACCOUNT BALANCE: -$15,660.00 ACCRUED INTEREST: $0.00 AS OF: Nov. 25, 2024 ACCRUED PENALTY: $0.00 AS OF: Nov. 25, 2024 ACCOUNT BALANCE PLUS ACCRUALS (this is not a payoff amount): -$15,660.00 My filing information shows: EXEMPTIONS: 04 FILING STATUS: Head of Household ADJUSTED GROSS INCOME: $5,994.00 TAXABLE INCOME: $0.00 TAX PER RETURN: $912.00 SE TAXABLE INCOME TAXPAYER: $5,956.00 SE TAXABLE INCOME SPOUSE: $0.00 TOTAL SELF EMPLOYMENT TAX: $912.00 The transaction history shows: CODE 150 Tax return filed 20241605 05-06-2024 70211-430-98904-4 CODE 810 Refund freeze 02-08-2024 CODE 766 Credit to your account 04-15-2024 CODE 766 Credit to your account 04-15-2024 -$13,000+ CODE 768 Earned income credit 04-15-2024 -$2,000+ CODE 971 Amended tax return or claim forwarded for processing 05-21-2024 CODE 977 Amended return filed 05-21-2024 33277-545-00550-4 Called IRS in September and they said my case was assigned but needs 30 more days for review. My as of date just changed to November 25th. Really need some guidance on what to do next and if anyone's seeing movement with similar dates. Has anyone else had their amended return take this long with the as of date changing? Is the November 25th date significant?

Tax professional here - The as of date change is actually a good sign. It means there's movement on your account. The 30-day review period is pretty standard for amended returns, especially with the initial freeze. Keep checking your transcript weekly for any new codes or updates.

Thank you! Do you know if the 30 days is business days or calendar days? 🤔

Calendar days, but honestly these timeframes are more like guidelines than strict rules rn 😅

Hey guys, instead of playing detective with these transcripts, I've been using taxr.ai and it's been a game changer. It costs $1 but it analyzes your entire transcript and tells you exactly what's happening and when to expect movement. https://taxr.ai

100% legit. Used it for both my amended returns. It caught things I totally missed and predicted my DDD perfectly

How exactly does it work? Does it just read the transcript or what?

It uses AI to analyze every code and date on your transcript, then explains everything in plain English. It even tells you if there are any red flags that might delay things further. Best $1 I ever spent fr fr 💯

Call your local taxpayer advocate office. They helped me break through when I was stuck for 8 months with an amended return.
