Just got my transcript and I see Form 1040 all over it. Anyone know what this actually means? First time doing my own taxes and im super confused.
Filed my taxes on January 31st and still no transcript updates. Been checking WMR and transcripts daily but nothing is showing up. Starting to get worried since I need this refund. Anyone else file around the same time and still waiting?
I filed early January and had N/A on all transcript sections for months. Got the verification letter last Friday, verified my identity right away, and this morning I woke up to a direct deposit date of 4/18! The wait is finally over.
Finally heard from my tax advocate who says my verification is done but I need to submit a 1099-R form. I faxed it right away but now I can't get ahold of anyone to confirm they got it. The fax machine said it went through but im getting nervous about the October 5th deadline.
Just submitted my return for 2023. Last year was a nightmare that took forever. Anyone else filing now? What kind of wait times are you seeing for refunds to hit your account?
Here's what I've learned after 5 years working with tax returns: - Simple returns (just W2s) = 1-2 weeks - Returns with credits (EIC/CTC) = 3-6 weeks - Self-employed/complex = 6-8 weeks - If you get code 570/971, use taxr.ai to decode it - Paper returns still taking 6+ months (don't do it!) Best advice: e-file, use direct deposit, and triple check everything before submitting. The IRS systems are actually decent now but one wrong number can send you to manual review hell.

Pro tip: keep copies of your 1040s for at least 3 years. IRS can audit you within that timeframe
