Finally got my tax refund dates but I'm confused about my 2024 Tax Return status. I'm looking at the online system that shows the following information: 2024 Tax Return Here are the details about your tax return. Date Jan 31, 2025 Description We have received your Tax Return. Date Feb 8, 2025 Description Return is completed. Date Feb 14, 2025 Description Your 2024 refund of (any interest, if applicable) is sent to your bank via direct deposit. Review your bank statement after this date. I see Feb 14, 2025 deposit date listed as "Your 2024 refund... is sent to your bank via direct deposit" but I don't know if that's for state or federal refund. The system shows they received my return on Jan 31, 2025, and the return was completed on Feb 8, 2025. I haven't gotten a state refund since having my first kid - always said I owed after that. Now I'm looking at these dates and descriptions: "We have received your Tax Return" (Jan 31), "Return is completed" (Feb 8), and then the Feb 14 direct deposit date - but nowhere does it specify if this is my state or federal refund. They're telling me to "Review your bank statement after this date" but I need to know which refund to expect. Is there a way to tell from this information whether I'm looking at my state or federal tax return status? The interface doesn't make it clear at all.
Filed my taxes on February 8th and got verified over the phone March 15th. My Where's My Refund tool changed from 'still processing' to 'we have received your tax return and it is being processed' but when I check my transcripts it shows N/A and says 'no return filed'. Anyone else experiencing this or know what's going on?
Just got my transcript and I'm trying to understand what it all means. According to my account transcript, I have an ACCOUNT BALANCE of -$10,131.00 AS OF: Feb. 19, 2025. My ACCRUED INTEREST shows 0.00 and ACCRUED PENALTY also shows 0.00 AS OF: Feb. 19, 2025. The ACCOUNT BALANCE PLUS ACCRUALS (with a note that "this is not a payoff amount") is -$10,131.00. Looking at the "INFORMATION FROM THE RETURN OR AS ADJUSTED" section, it shows: EXEMPTIONS: 05 FILING STATUS: Married Filing Joint ADJUSTED GROSS INCOME: $25,286.00 TAXABLE INCOME: 0.00 TAX PER RETURN: $2,216.00 SE TAXABLE INCOME TAXPAYER: $14,484.00 SE TAXABLE INCOME SPOUSE: 0.00 TOTAL SELF EMPLOYMENT TAX: $2,216.00 The RETURN DUE DATE OR RETURN RECEIVED DATE (WHICHEVER IS LATER) is Apr. 15, 2025, and my PROCESSING DATE was Feb. 24, 2025. Then there's a TRANSACTIONS section showing: CODE 150 - Tax return filed - CYCLE 20250604 - DATE 02-24-2025 - AMOUNT $2,216.00 14211-427-03576-5 CODE 806 - W-2 or 1099 withholding - DATE 04-15-2025 - AMOUNT -$99.00 CODE 766 - Credit to your account - DATE 04-15-2025 - AMOUNT -$3,418.00 CODE 768 - Earned income credit - DATE 04-15-2025 - AMOUNT -$7,830.00 At the top it says "ANY MINUS SIGN SHOWN BELOW SIGNIFIES A CREDIT AMOUNT" - so does this mean the -$10,131.00 is actually my refund amount? The amounts seem to add up: $2,216.00 tax owed, minus $99.00 for withholding, minus $3,418.00 credit, and minus $7,830.00 for earned income credit equals -$9,131.00 (though my account shows -$10,131.00). With the processing date of Feb. 24, 2025, is that when I should expect my deposit? I'm new to reading these transcripts and want to make sure I understand everything correctly, especially with all these different numbers and dates showing up. Does the fact that my return due date is Apr. 15, 2025 affect when I'll get my refund? Thanks for helping me interpret all these numbers and dates correctly!
I filed my 2024 taxes as Head of Household with 2 exemptions and my transcript updated today. Looking at my transcript, I can see all the details now: ACCOUNT BALANCE: -$4,681.00 ACCRUED INTEREST: $0.00 AS OF: Feb. 11, 2025 ACCRUED PENALTY: $0.00 AS OF: Feb. 11, 2025 ACCOUNT BALANCE PLUS ACCRUALS (this is not a payoff amount): -$4,681.00 INFORMATION FROM THE RETURN OR AS ADJUSTED: EXEMPTIONS: 02 FILING STATUS: Head of Household ADJUSTED GROSS INCOME: $28,263.00 TAXABLE INCOME: $5,363.00 TAX PER RETURN: $38.00 SE TAXABLE INCOME TAXPAYER: $0.00 SE TAXABLE INCOME SPOUSE: $0.00 TOTAL SELF EMPLOYMENT TAX: $0.00 RETURN DUE DATE OR RETURN RECEIVED DATE (WHICHEVER IS LATER): Apr. 15, 2025 PROCESSING DATE: Feb. 11, 2025 TRANSACTIONS: CODE | EXPLANATION OF TRANSACTION | CYCLE | DATE | AMOUNT 150 | Tax return filed | 20250405 | 02-11-2025 | $38.00 30211-421-16702-5 806 | W-2 or 1099 withholding | 04-16-2025 | -$334.00 766 | Earned income credit | 04-16-2025 | -$4,485.00 My AGI is $28,263.00 with a taxable income of $5,363.00. I see a processing date of Feb. 11, 2025, but I don't see any direct deposit date. My total refund is showing -$4,681.00 (which includes -$4,485.00 for Earned Income Credit and -$334.00 in withholdings against my tax of $38.00). Does anyone know what this means for my refund timeline? I'm trying to understand when I'll actually receive the money. The transcript shows transaction codes 150 for tax return filed (cycle 20250405), 806 for W-2 withholding, and 766 for EIC, all with dates of either 02-11-2025 or 04-16-2025. Does the 04-16-2025 date mean I won't get my refund until April?
Finally got movement on my refund after contacting my congressman. If your transcripts are showing N/A codes and you're stuck with no updates, highly recommend reaching out to your representative's office. Just got an email back today confirming they're looking into it.

Check your W4 state withholding. After kids, if you didn't adjust it you might not be withholding enough for state taxes

Talk to your HR department about updating your state withholding. You might need to have extra $ taken out each check
