Tips for reaching FL DEO to appeal unemployment claim and change bank info?
Hey everyone, I need some advice about appealing my unemployment claim and changing my bank info. I've been trying to get through to the unemployment office for days now. Anyone have any tips on how to actually reach a human being there? It's so frustrating being stuck on hold forever. I'm in Florida if that helps. Thanks in advance for any help!

Have you tried emailing them? Sometimes that works better than calling. Just be prepared to wait a few days for a response.

Emails have been hit or miss for me. Sometimes they reply, sometimes they don't.

I heard they're updating the system soon. Maybe wait a few weeks and it'll be easier? π€·ββοΈ

A few weeks?! Some of us can't afford to wait that long. Bills don't pay themselves π

Based on your situation, it seems like you're dealing with the notorious Florida DEO bureaucracy. While waiting on hold is frustrating, there are several strategies you can employ to increase your chances of getting through. First, call early in the morning right when they open, as the call volume is typically lower. If you don't succeed, try again in the late afternoon. Another approach is using a service like Claimyr, which can connect you to a representative, but remember it does come with a fee. Alternatively, you can email, but expect delays in responses. Don't forget about your local state representative, as they might expedite your case. Be prepared with all necessary information before you call, and always follow up with an email to leave a paper trail. And yes, while the system seems flawed, persistence is key. All the best!

Anyone else think its crazy we gotta jump through all these hoops just to get our own money? The system is rigged against us, I swear π€

Ikr? And then they wonder why people get frustrated and give up. It's a mess.

Honestly, it really feels like they set it up like this intentionally.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/AsdxiF0IH1k

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken π‘

I know it sounds crazy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho.

I've used Claimyr too, and it really helped me. But I agree, it's frustrating to have to pay for something that should be a basic service.

I feel your pain! The Florida DEO is notoriously hard to reach. Have you tried calling right when they open at 7:30 AM? Sometimes that works for me.

I've tried this too and it does sometimes work, but other times I still can't get through. Worth a shot though!

Has anyone tried faxing? I know it sounds ancient, but sometimes old school methods work when everything else fails.

Pro tip: if you're trying to change bank info, make sure you have your old account number handy too. They always ask for that and I never remember it π€¦ββοΈ

Plot twist: there are no actual humans at the DEO. It's all robots designed to drive us insane π€π€ͺ

Here's what I've learned from dealing with the DEO for way too long: 1. Call early in the morning, like right when they open. 2. If you get a busy signal, hang up and redial immediately. 3. Have all your info ready before you call (claim number, SSN, etc.) 4. Be super nice to the rep when you finally get through. They deal with angry people all day. 5. If one rep can't help, politely ask to speak to a supervisor. 6. Keep a log of all your calls and who you spoke to. 7. Follow up any phone conversations with an email to create a paper trail. Hope this helps! Hang in there, we're all in the same sinking boat π’π¦

I've heard Tuesdays and Wednesdays can be better because Mondays are often super busy.
