Lost access to email linked to DEO account - What to do?

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle. I can't access my unemployment account because I no longer have the email address that's linked to it. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I do when I finally get through to someone on the phone? Any advice would be really appreciated!

Ugh, been there done that. It's such a pain! When you get through to an agent, make sure you explain clearly that you don't have access to the old email. They'll probably ask you a bunch of security questions to verify your identity. Just be patient and have all your info ready.

Yep, this is spot on. They might also ask for your social security number and date of birth, so have those handy!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/AsdxiF0IH1k

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo.

How long did it take for them to call you back?

It took about 2 hours for me, but I've heard it can vary. Still wayyy faster than trying to get through on your own.

Listen up, here's what you need to do: 1. Gather all your personal info: SSN, DOB, address, claim number if you have it. 2. When you get an agent, explain calmly that you've lost access to your email. 3. Ask them about the process to update your contact info. 4. They might need to verify your identity. Be ready for security questions. 5. Request a confirmation email to your new address once it's updated. 6. If they can't help, ask to speak with a supervisor. 7. Take notes during the call, including the agent's name and ID number. Stay persistent and don't let them brush you off. Good luck!

This happened to me last year. It took forever to get it sorted out. The system is so broken, I swear they make it difficult on purpose 🙄

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the phone, try reaching out on Twitter. Sometimes their social media team can help or at least escalate your issue.
