Florida DEO trick - got through on Saturday with no wait time!
Guys!! Just want to share that I finally got through to DEO on a SATURDAY with almost no wait! I've been calling for weeks about my missing payments (been stuck 'pending' since Jan 7th) and just tried calling today on a whim. Got connected within 2 minutes and talked to someone who actually fixed my claim right on the spot! They updated something in the system that was flagging my work search entries incorrectly. The whole call took maybe 8-10 minutes tops. Just FYI though - no supervisors working today so if you need supervisor approval for something, you'll have to call back Monday. Thought this might help someone else who's desperate to get through!

•I called right at 9:15am. Maybe that's the sweet spot? Normally I've been trying afternoons and it's always been a nightmare.

Saturday calls can sometimes work better because there's lower call volume, but what most people don't realize is that the DEO staffing is also reduced on weekends. The representatives working weekends typically have more limited authority - they can fix basic issues like your work search flags, but can't handle complex adjudication, appeals, or anything requiring supervisor approval. Also, if your issue involves identity verification problems through ID.me, weekend staff often can't access those systems fully. If your issue is relatively straightforward, Saturday might work great like OP experienced. But if you're dealing with a locked account, monetary determination issues, or anything involving multiple departments, you'll still need to get through during weekdays.

•UGGGGH so my stupid adjudication for 'voluntary quit' probably needs weekday staff???? Every time I call during the week I can't even get in que. They just hang up on me!!!!

Tried calling just now after seeing this post and got the 'all representatives are busy' message and then it hung up on me. So jealous you got through!

•That sucks! Maybe it varies by hour? I got lucky I guess.

I've been dealing with the DEO phone system for the past 3 months trying to get my locked account fixed after the stupid ID.me verification mess. NOTHING works!! I call 50+ times a day and either get instant disconnects or "we're experiencing high call volume" and then they hang up. It's INFURIATING! I finally broke down and used this service called Claimyr that someone here recommended. They charged me but I FINALLY got through to a real person at DEO who unlocked my account. You can see a demo video of how it works here: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj or just go to claimyr.com. I was super skeptical but honestly it was worth it after months of trying. The DEO rep told me they're severely understaffed still, which is why it's basically impossible to get through the normal way.

•Yep - it worked for me. Got through in about 20 minutes after trying for months on my own. The website explains how it works but basically they hold your place in line and call you when they get a rep. Way better than calling 100 times a day like I was doing.

Thanks for sharing this tip. Saturdays can indeed be a good time to call the DEO since call volume is typically lower. However, it's important to understand that weekend representatives have limited access to certain systems and authority levels. If anyone is struggling with getting through to DEO, here are some additional strategies that can help: 1. Call right when they open at 7:30am on weekdays (often the best time) 2. Try calling during lunch hours (12-1pm) when some staff return from breaks 3. Use the contact form on the CONNECT portal for simple issues 4. For adjudication issues, email DEO.UC_Adjudication@deo.myflorida.com with your claimant ID in the subject line 5. If your issue involves missing payments for weeks already claimed, specify "Missing Payments" in any communication Remember that representatives cannot expedite the adjudication process itself, but they can verify if your documentation has been received and if anything is missing from your file. Always have your claimant ID, the last 4 of your SSN, and detailed notes about your specific issue ready before calling.

•This is super helpful! I didn't realize they open at 7:30am on weekdays - I've been trying around 9am. Will definitely try earlier next time if I have more issues. Thanks!

Honestly I dont believe anyone actually gets thru to them. Been trying for 5 weeks. My sister even went to the CareerSource office and they couldn't help with her benefits question just gave her the same DEO number that nobody answers. This whole system is designed to make us give up.

•CareerSource offices can be helpful, but their ability to assist with DEO issues is limited. They can help with job search and CONNECT navigation, but they don't have direct access to fix claim issues or process payments. Have your sister try calling at 7:30am exactly when they open. That's typically when wait times are shortest.

I've been dealing with Florida unemployment for almost 2 months now, and my experience is that Saturdays are hit or miss. Sometimes I've gotten through quickly like you did, and other times it's been impossible. It really depends on what's happening with their systems and staffing on that particular day. What I've learned is that if you have an issue with your claim that falls into these categories, weekend staff CAN usually help: - Work search verification problems - Basic payment release issues - PIN resets - General claim status questions - Helping you understand determination letters But for these issues, you usually need weekday staff: - Complex adjudication cases - Appeals assistance - Overpayment disputes - Identity verification problems - Anything requiring supervisor approval Also, if anyone is wondering why their calls keep getting disconnected - the DEO phone system has a queue limit. Once that limit is reached, it automatically disconnects new callers rather than putting them on hold. That's why sometimes you can't even get into the hold queue.

•This explains a lot! My issue was just the work search verification flag, which is probably why the weekend person could fix it so quickly. Really helpful info, thanks!

•That's exactly why I finally used that Claimyr service. I was in the same boat - about to lose my apartment because my benefits were on hold for months. Sometimes you have to try something different if the regular way isn't working.

When I had issues last month I actually had better luck with the email than phone. Try DEOUICustomerCareReps@deo.myflorida.com and put your claimant ID and "URGENT" in the subject line. They got back to me in 3 days. Better than never getting through on phone!
