DEO adjudication finally expedited - CareerSource center trick worked!

Wanted to share something that just worked for my pending claim! After 5 weeks of my DEO claim sitting in adjudication hell, I finally tried visiting my local CareerSource center in Tampa yesterday. Total game changer! A staff member there helped me connect directly to the reemployment assistance line - I only waited about 10 minutes compared to the HOURS I've spent hearing busy signals and getting disconnected. The claims specialist was actually super helpful (shocking, I know). She submitted an expedite request for my adjudication right there on the phone, gave me her name (Melissa) and a reference number to track it. Double bonus: I also emailed my state rep Jennifer Canady last week, and her assistant responded asking for my claim# and address so they could inquire with DEO about the holdup. After 5+ weeks of complete silence on my claim, I finally feel like something's happening! Will update when I hear more - crossing fingers this breaks the logjam!

I've been trying to get through to DEO for THREE MONTHS!!! Every single day I call and get disconnected or hear that stupid message about high call volume. Never thought about going to CareerSource. Did you just walk in or make an appointment? I'm desperate at this point, haven't received a penny since my claim went into adjudication in February. My landlord is threatening eviction!!

I just walked right in! No appointment needed at mine. Just told them at the front desk I was having trouble reaching DEO and needed help. The woman who helped me said they have a direct line or something. Worth trying for sure with your situation - that's way too long to wait!!

This is solid advice. CareerSource centers have special direct access lines to DEO that regular claimants don't have. I did something similar last year when my claim was stuck for weeks. One other tip - when you get that reference number, WRITE IT DOWN immediately and keep it safe. If you need to call back, having that reference number is crucial because it proves someone was already working on your case and gives the next agent something to track. For the state representative route - that sometimes works too, but in my experience, it's hit or miss depending on which rep you contact and their relationship with DEO. Keep us posted on your results!

Thats so truee about reference numbers!! I lost mine after talking to someone and when I called back they acted like they had no record of my previous call. So frustrating

I work at a non-profit that helps people with unemployment issues, and CareerSource is definitely one of our recommended resources. They have special access channels to DEO that bypass the regular phone lines. The expedite request is also a good sign - those typically get reviewed within 7-10 business days rather than the normal adjudication timeline which can stretch months right now. One thing to keep in mind: the fact that you've also contacted your state representative creates two separate escalation paths. Be sure to mention to either one if you get resolution through the other channel, as this prevents duplicate work and potentially confused messages in the system. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip about mentioning both contacts! Didn't think about that. I'll definitely let them both know if something happens. Is there anything else I should be doing while I wait for the expedite?

Has anyone tried Claimyr? After 6 weeks of trying to reach DEO with no luck (constant busy signals, disconnects, and waiting for hours), I found this service at claimyr.com that got me through to a live agent in about 30 minutes. It was such a relief to finally talk to a human! They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj Sounds like the CareerSource option worked great for you though! I wish I'd known about that before.

I tried Claimyr after seeing it mentioned here. Got through to someone but they still couldn't help with my issue, said I needed to wait for adjudication to complete. So I still have no money. The system is designed to make us give up.

BE CAREFUL about that 'expedite request' stuff. I had a rep tell me the EXACT same thing back in January. Gave me a reference # and everything. Said it would be 'expedited' and fixed within 10 days MAX. Guess what happened? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! 6 weeks later I was still calling and they kept saying 'oh it's in process' or 'the system shows the request but no update yet'. I finally had to physically go to the office in Tallahassee and throw a fit to get someone to actually review my claim. DEO is completely broken and they just tell you what you want to hear to get you off the phone.

Your experience isn't universal though. Expedite requests DO work sometimes, especially if they're properly entered in the system. The problem is that some reps don't actually submit them or don't code them correctly. It also depends on the specific issue - identity verification expedites tend to work better than wage disputes, for example. Reference numbers are key because you can track whether the request was actually entered.

Thanks! Did your cousin's claim get resolved after CareerSource helped? How long did it take?

Quick update for anyone reading this thread: The process OP described with CareerSource is legitimate and often works well. However, there's a difference between an "expedite request" and an "adjudication escalation." Make sure you specifically ask which one they're doing for you. The escalation is more powerful and gets routed to senior adjudicators, while expedite requests sometimes just get flagged in the system but stay in the same queue. If you've been waiting more than 4 weeks, you should qualify for an escalation.

This is really helpful info - thank you! Can I just ask for the 'adjudication escalation' specifically when I talk to them? Should I mention how long I've been waiting right away?

UPDATE: My claim was just approved this morning!!! Only took 4 business days after the expedite request. All pending weeks changed to "PROCESSED" and payment status shows they'll be deposited tomorrow. I'm actually shocked it worked so fast after weeks of nothing happening. If anyone else is stuck in adjudication limbo, seriously try the CareerSource approach - it really worked for me!

This is amazing news! Congratulations on finally getting approved - 4 business days is incredible compared to the months some people are waiting. I'm definitely going to try the CareerSource route. Just to clarify for anyone else reading this - did you go to the Tampa CareerSource center specifically or would any location work? Also, when you called your state rep Jennifer Canady's office, did you have to provide any specific documentation beyond your claim number and address? I've been stuck in adjudication for 7 weeks now and I'm willing to try both approaches. Thanks for sharing your success story - it gives the rest of us hope!

Hey! I'm new to this community but have been lurking and reading everyone's experiences. I'm in week 3 of adjudication hell myself and honestly this thread has been the most helpful thing I've found online about actually getting somewhere with DEO. @b4d0d26267bb congratulations on getting approved!! That's such great news. For the CareerSource question - I think any location should work since they all have access to the same DEO systems, but maybe call ahead to make sure they can help with reemployment assistance issues? Some locations might focus more on job search services. Really appreciate you sharing the step-by-step process, definitely going to try this approach this week!

This is exactly what I needed to see! I've been stuck in adjudication for 6 weeks and was starting to lose hope. Reading through this whole thread has given me a clear action plan. I'm going to try the CareerSource approach first thing Monday morning, and if that doesn't work, I'll contact my state representative too. The fact that you got approved in just 4 business days after months of waiting is incredible - it really shows these alternative routes can work when the regular phone system fails us. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and following up with the results. Bookmarking this thread for sure!

I'm so glad this thread is helpful! I was in the same boat just a week ago feeling completely hopeless. One thing I'd add - when you go to CareerSource, try to go early in the day if possible. I went around 10am and there wasn't much of a wait, but I heard from the staff that afternoons can get pretty busy. Also, bring all your documentation with you (claim number, ID, any correspondence from DEO) even though they might not need it all. Better to have it and not need it than the other way around. Really hoping this works for you too! Keep us posted on how it goes.
