SDI phone nightmare: Wrong dept, endless hold times. How to actually reach a human at disability office?
I'm so frustrated with the disability insurance system. I've been trying to get through to someone for days now. Every time I call, I either get the wrong department or end up on hold forever. It's like they're purposely making it difficult for us to get help. Has anyone else had this problem? Any tips on how to actually reach a human being at the disability office?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been dealing with this nightmare for weeks now. It's like they're playing a sick game of phone tag with us. š¤¬

Weeks? You're lucky. I've been trying to sort out my disability claim for MONTHS. It's ridiculous!

Same here. I swear they change the phone menu options every other day just to mess with us. š¤”

I actually found a way to get through! There's this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that calls for you, waits on hold, and then connects you when a real person picks up. It costs $20, but it saved me hours of frustration.

Sounds too good to be true. How does it work exactly?

Idk man, paying to talk to a government agency? Seems sketchy.

I get the skepticism, but it's legit. You give them the number, they call and navigate the menu, then call you when they get a human. Saved my sanity tbh.

Here's what I've learned after dealing with this for way too long: ā¢ Call right when they open. Like, set an alarm and be ready to dial. ā¢ If you get the wrong department, ask them to transfer you instead of hanging up. ā¢ Keep a log of every call, who you talked to, and what they said. You'll need it. ā¢ Email them too. Sometimes that's faster (I know, crazy right?) ā¢ If all else fails, contact your local representative. They can sometimes cut through the red tape. Hang in there, OP. It's a battle, but you'll get through eventually.

Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try calling right when they open. Do you know what time that is?

They open at 8 AM local time, but start dialing at 7:59. Trust me, every second counts!

I heard they're updating their phone systems soon. Supposedly it'll make things easier. I'll believe it when I see it tho.

My cousin works for the state (not in disability tho). Says it's been in the works for a while. Take it with a grain of salt I guess.

Pro tip: if u get someone on the line, even if its the wrong dept, BE NICE. they might actually help u get to the right person instead of just hanging up on u. worked for me!

Anyone else notice that the hold music is always some crappy jazz from the 80s? Like, if I'm gonna be on hold for 3 hours, at least give me some options! šµš

Lol true. I swear I hear that music in my nightmares now.

Plot twist: it's actually a psychological experiment to see how long we'll endure bad music before giving up. š¤
