PFL claim filed 5 weeks ago, no funds or EDD update. SF resident. Help!
I filed for Paid Family Leave over a month ago for bonding with my newborn, but I haven't received any funds yet. My employer hasn't gotten any info from EDD either. I'm in SF so I'm supposed to get money from both the state and city programs. Anyone else dealing with delays? It's getting stressful not having this income while I'm off work.

Ugh, I feel ya. The whole system is so slow rn. I filed for PFL 6 weeks ago and crickets 🦗 Have you tried calling EDD? It's a nightmare but sometimes you can get lucky

I've tried calling but can never get through. It's so frustrating! How long did you wait on hold?

Honestly? Like 3 hours 💀 But I just put it on speaker and did other stuff. Keep trying tho, you might get lucky!

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through in 20 mins last week doing that

Congrats on the new baby! 🎉 But yeah, EDD is swamped. My claim took 2 months to process. Hang in there!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to make a phone call? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 🤦♂️

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

Have you checked your UI Online account? Sometimes there's info there that they haven't communicated elsewhere.

Yeah, I check it daily. No updates there either 😞

The SF program is usually faster than EDD. Have you reached out to them separately? They might be able to help or at least give you an update.

I work for a company that deals with EDD claims. Here's what you need to do: 1. Keep calling EDD. Yes, it sucks, but persistence pays off. 2. Check your UI Online account daily for any messages or requests for additional info. 3. Make sure your employer has submitted all necessary paperwork on their end. 4. If you're really stuck, consider contacting your local state representative. They can sometimes expedite claims. 5. Document everything - dates you filed, called, any confirmation numbers, etc. 6. For the SF program, reach out to them directly. They're usually more responsive than EDD. Hang in there. The system is overwhelmed but they will get to your claim eventually.

Have you tried faxing your claim? I know it sounds ancient, but sometimes it gets processed faster that way.
