Need EDD walk-in office locations in Orange County - can't login online
I've been trying to file a new unemployment claim but can't remember my login info from 4 years ago. The password reset isn't working - tried requesting a code but nothing comes through (yes, I checked spam folder too). Back in January 2020, I went to an actual EDD office and filed in person with staff helping me directly - WAY easier than dealing with this online mess. Does anyone know where there's a walk-in EDD office in Orange County? I've been searching everywhere online but can't find clear info about locations. It feels like they're deliberately hiding these offices! Can someone please help with a physical address where I can just show up and file my claim in person?

•Are you serious?? That's ridiculous! So there's literally NO WAY to talk to an actual human being face-to-face anymore? What about people who aren't good with computers or don't have reliable internet?

There are no more dedicated EDD unemployment walk-in offices in Orange County or anywhere in California. What you remember from 2020 has been permanently changed. The only physical locations now are America's Job Centers of California (AJCC), but they don't process claims directly - they just provide computers and sometimes assistance with the online system. For Orange County, you can visit the AJCC in Irvine at 17891 Cartwright Rd, or in Anaheim at 7077 Orangewood Ave. However, for password reset issues, these centers won't have any more access than you do from home. Your best bet is calling EDD directly at 1-800-300-5616.

•Thank you for the detailed info! That's so disappointing though. I'll try visiting the Irvine center since it's closer to me. Do you know if they at least have staff there who can help guide me through the online application? My bigger concern is that I can't even get past the login screen to file a new claim.

Just to clarify - you need to create a NEW account if it's been 4 years. Don't try to recover your old login. Go to UI Online and click "Register" instead of trying to log in with your old info. Then you'll need to create a new account with your current email. The system automatically archives accounts after 18 months of inactivity. If you go to the AJCC centers mentioned above, bring your ID, Social Security card, and employment history for the last 18 months to make the process smoother.

•Oh! I didn't realize I needed to create a completely new account. That makes sense - I was spending hours trying to recover something that probably doesn't exist anymore. I'll try registering as a new user tonight. Thanks for the tip about what documents to bring to the job center too.

The whole system is DELIBERATELY DESIGNED to be confusing and inaccessible!!! They don't want to pay out benefits so they make it as difficult as possible to file. I spent WEEKS trying to get through last year. The physical offices were way better but of course they closed those to save money while making our lives more difficult!!

•I felt the same way when I first applied last fall, but honestly I think it's more incompetence than malice. The EDD website is stuck in like 2005 technology. But I do agree they should bring back in-person services for people who struggle with online stuff or have complicated situations.

If you're still having trouble with the online system after trying to create a new account like someone suggested, I highly recommend using Claimyr to get through to an EDD representative by phone. I was in a similar situation and spent days trying to get through the regular number with no luck. Claimyr connected me to an EDD agent in about 20 minutes who helped reset everything. They have a good video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km and their website is claimyr.com. It was seriously worth it after all the frustration of trying to get through on my own.

•I've never heard of this service before. Does it actually work? I've been calling that main EDD number and just getting the "we're experiencing high call volume" message and then it hangs up on me. I'll check out that video - at this point I'm willing to try anything to get this claim started.

•The Anaheim one is super busy tho so go early!! I waited 2.5 hrs when I went there last month. The Garden Grove one on harbor is less crowded sometimes

I'll add one more important tip that saved me a ton of headache. When creating your new account, make sure your name EXACTLY matches your Social Security card - including middle names/initials. The system will automatically verify against SSA records and if there's any mismatch (even a middle initial), you'll get locked into identity verification loops that are a nightmare to resolve. Also, write down your login info immediately and store it somewhere safe! I even emailed myself a copy of my username (not password) so I could search for it if needed years later.

•That's really helpful advice! I wouldn't have thought about the exact name matching. I usually use my nickname on forms but I'll make sure to use my full legal name exactly as it appears on my SS card. And definitely will be saving my login info this time around.

One last update - if you do visit an AJCC location, call them first to check their hours and if you need an appointment. Some locations are appointment-only now, and most close early (around 4:00-4:30pm). The Irvine location's number is (949) 341-8000 and Anaheim is (714) 518-2315. After you create your new account, if you still have issues, remember that the EDD phone line (1-800-300-5616) has better staffing Tuesday through Thursday, typically.

•Thank you so much for the phone numbers and the tip about Tuesday-Thursday being better days to call! I'll definitely try those days if I need to call. I'm going to try setting up the new account tonight and hope for the best.
