Need EDD phone number and exact dial sequence to get through to a rep
Can someone please share the current EDD phone number and how to actually navigate the prompts to reach a human? I've been trying different numbers I found online but keep getting disconnected or stuck in automated loops. My certification is stuck 'pending' for 3 weeks and I really need to talk to someone. Is there a specific sequence of numbers to press after calling? Or a better time of day to call? Getting desperate here!

The main EDD customer service number is 1-800-300-5616. You have to call right when they open at 8:00 AM, but honestly it's almost impossible to get through with all the call volume. You'll need to be super patient and keep trying. When you do get through, press 1 for English, then wait for all the announcements, then press 1, 2, 4 in that order. Sometimes it changes though, so listen carefully to the prompts.

•Thanks! I'll try the 1,2,4 sequence tomorrow morning. Do they still close at noon or are they open all day now?

The number is 1-800-300-5616 but GOOD LUCK actually getting through!!! I spent THREE WEEKS calling EVERY DAY and kept getting the "we're experiencing high call volume" message before it hung up on me. It's ridiculous how they expect people to survive when you can't even talk to anyone about your claim!!! I ended up having to call over 50 times in one day before I finally got into the queue.

•Ugh that sounds awful. I've already tried calling about 20 times today with no luck. Did you find any particular time of day worked better?

•I finally got through around 10:30am on a Tuesday, but honestly I think it's just random luck. Some people say to call at 8:01am exactly but that never worked for me because EVERYONE does that!

After struggling for weeks to reach EDD, I finally found a service called Claimyr that got me connected with an EDD rep in about 20 minutes. It basically calls EDD for you and then calls you when it gets through to a rep. Saved me from spending all day redialing. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. Worth it for me because I was about to lose my mind trying to get through on my own.

•It worked for me - I was skeptical too but I was desperate after two weeks of trying to call. The EDD rep I spoke with helped resolve my pending payments issue right away once I finally got through.

•The 866 number is actually just for automated services and tele-cert. You can't get transferred to a representative from that line anymore. They changed the system in early 2025. The only number that connects to representatives now is the 800-300-5616 number.

Has anyone tried calling their local EDD office directly instead of the main number? I've heard some people have better luck that way, but I can't find the direct numbers for local offices anywhere on the website. My claim has been stuck pending for almost identical reasons and I'm getting desperate too.

•Unfortunately, local EDD offices don't take direct calls for UI claims anymore - everything is routed through the central call center. Your best bet is still the main 800 number, but try calling at 8:01 AM or between 12-1 PM when call volume sometimes drops during lunch. Also, Wednesdays and Thursdays tend to have slightly lower call volumes than Mondays or Tuesdays in my experience.

Just to update the correct information: The main EDD number (1-800-300-5616) is open Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM. The prompts may change occasionally, but generally, after selecting your language, listen fully to the automated message, then select option 1 for claims questions, then option 2 for existing claims, and then option 4 to speak to a representative. Be prepared with your Social Security Number and the exact dates of your claim issue. This will help the representative assist you more quickly once you do get through.

•This is super helpful, thank you! I've got all my info ready, just need to actually get someone on the line. I'll keep trying with these exact steps.

I heard there's a special trick where you press 0 at every prompt and it gets you to a person faster. Anyone try this?

•That's actually a myth. Pressing 0 repeatedly on the EDD phone system either does nothing or disconnects you entirely. Always follow the proper prompt sequence or you might lose your place in line. The system is specifically designed to prevent workarounds like this.

Update: I FINALLY got through! For anyone wondering, I called the 1-800-300-5616 number at exactly 8:01am today, used the 1-2-4 sequence, and after a 47-minute wait, spoke to someone. They fixed my pending certification issue in about 10 minutes. Turns out there was a question about my last employer that triggered a review. The rep removed the flag and my payment should process in 24-48 hours. Thanks everyone for the advice!

•Lucky you! I'm on day 6 of calling and still nothing but busy signals and disconnects. Might have to try that Claimyr thing someone mentioned if I don't get through by the end of the week.

•That's awesome Sofia! So glad you finally got through and got it resolved. Your success story gives me hope - I'm dealing with a similar pending issue for the past 2 weeks. Going to try the exact same approach tomorrow morning at 8:01am with the 1-2-4 sequence. Fingers crossed!

•Sofia, that's such great news! Thank you for sharing the exact steps that worked for you. I'm in week 4 of trying to get through with a similar pending issue - this gives me renewed hope. Did you have to call multiple times at 8:01am or did you get through on your first attempt that morning? Also, when you say the rep "removed the flag" - was that something they could do immediately or did you have to provide additional documentation?

•That's such a relief to hear you got it resolved! I've been struggling with a similar pending issue for about 10 days now. Quick question - when you called at 8:01am, did you get through immediately or did you have to redial multiple times before getting into the queue? I'm trying to figure out if I should keep hitting redial or if there's a sweet spot timing-wise. Also really helpful to know it was just an employer verification flag - gives me some idea of what to expect when I finally reach someone.
