EDD sent letter about work status, can't reach them. Help with disability claim?

I was supposed to return to work but couldn't due to my condition. Now EDD sent me a letter asking about my work status, but I can't get through on the phone. I'm worried about my disability claim. Has anyone dealt with this before? What should I do?

Connor O'Brien

Ugh, been there done that. EDD's phone lines are a nightmare! Here's what I did: 1. Keep calling. I know it sucks, but persistence pays off. 2. Try early morning or late afternoon. Less traffic. 3. Have all your docs ready when you finally get through. 4. Be super clear about your situation. Don't leave room for misunderstanding. Hang in there, it's frustrating but you'll get it sorted!

This is solid advice! I'd add: keep a log of all your calls and who you speak to. It helps if you need to escalate later.

Early morning FTW! I got through at 8:05 AM after trying for days. 🙌

Have you tried sending an email or fax? Sometimes that works better than calling. Just make sure to include all relevant info and your claim number.

I didn't even think about faxing! Do you know where I can find the fax number?

Sure thing! You can find it on the EDD website under 'Contact Us'. Just make sure to cover your bases and follow up if you don't hear back in a week or so.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

Totally get the skepticism, but yeah, it's legit. I was desperate and gave it a shot. Saved me hours of frustration.

Pro tip: if you cant get thru on the main line, try calling your local EDD office. Sometimes they can help or at least get you to the right person faster.

This whole system is so broken. Why do we have to jump through hoops just to get basic help? It's ridiculous! 😤

Preach! 🙌 The government needs to get its act together. We're not asking for handouts, just what we're entitled to!

Have you considered reaching out to your state representative? Sometimes they can help cut through the red tape.

I hadn't thought of that. How would I go about contacting them?

Just google '[your area] state representative'. Most have a 'constituent services' section on their website where you can submit your issue. They often have staff dedicated to helping with stuff like this.

This actually works! My rep's office helped me resolve an issue I'd been fighting with for months. Def worth a shot.

Make sure you document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every interaction. It'll save your butt if theres ever a dispute.
