EDD payments stopped suddenly, need Spanish-speaking rep - help!
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. My unemployment payments suddenly stopped about a month ago and I have no idea why. I've been trying to get through to EDD but its impossible to reach anyone. I really need to talk to a Spanish-speaking rep cuz my English isn't great. Anyone else dealing with this? Any advice on how to get answers? I'm starting to get worried about bills piling up.

Ugh, I feel your pain. The EDD system is a total nightmare rn. Have you tried checking your online account for any messages or updates? Sometimes they post important info there.

Good point! Also, make sure your contact information is up-to-date in your account, in case they're trying to reach you.

100% this. They probably hope we'll just go away if they ignore us long enough 🙄

It's systemic issues, but we can hope for updates that might make things more efficient.

Have you tried reaching out to your local assemblymember's office? They sometimes can help push things through with EDD. Worth a shot!

I didn't even know that was an option. How do I find my assemblymember?

Just google "[your city] assemblymember" and you should find their contact info. They usually have a form on their website for EDD help. Good luck!

Yes, and some offices are more responsive than others, so it might take a few tries with different contacts.

Just wanted to drop in and say don't lose hope, y'all. I was in the same boat a few months back and finally got it sorted. It sucks, but keep pushing. You got this! 💪😤

Has anyone tried faxing EDD? I know it sounds old school, but I've heard some people have had luck that way. Might be worth a shot if nothing else is working.

I've heard of this too, and sometimes sending a certified letter might also work since it requires a signature.

Listen up, folks. I've been through this rodeo before and here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and attempts to contact EDD. 2. Check your UI Online account daily. Sometimes they post important notices there without sending an email. 3. Make sure all your certifications are up to date. Even if payments stopped, keep certifying every two weeks. 4. If you received any letters from EDD, respond to them ASAP. Sometimes payments stop because they need additional info. 5. Try calling the Spanish line early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Sometimes it's less busy. 6. If all else fails, contact your local assemblymember or state senator. They can often help push things through. 7. Don't give up! The system is frustrating but persistence pays off. Remember, you're not alone in this. Hang in there! 💪

Question about #3 - I stopped certifying when my payments stopped. Should I go back and do those weeks now?

@profile 12 Absolutely! Certify for any weeks you missed ASAP. It won't guarantee payment, but it keeps your claim active and shows you're still eligible.

Also just to add, if they do owe you, they might pay retroactively once everything is cleared up.

Yo, I heard they're updating the EDD system soon. Anyone know if that's gonna make things better or worse? Knowing our luck, probably worse lol

Hey OP, I know it's tough to reach EDD, but using Claimyr might be a viable option. Many users have reported success in getting through to a representative using their service. I understand the concern about the $20 fee, but sometimes investing a little can save you a lot of stress and time. However, if you're skeptical about spending money, make sure to exhaust all free options like calling at different times, reaching out to local representatives, or even trying Google Translate for communication. Documentation is key, so keep a record of everything. Ultimately, persistence is crucial in navigating this frustrating system. Remember to check your online account for notifications and continue to certify every two weeks, even if your payments have stopped. Good luck!

Hey OP, have you tried using Google Translate to write out what you want to say in English? Might help if you can't get a Spanish rep right away. Just a thought!

That's a great idea! You could also get a friend to help if you're unsure about the translation.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://claimyr.com

$20 just to talk to someone? That's messed up. We shouldn't have to pay for basic service 😤

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. They use some kinda tech to stay on hold so you don't have to. Worth every penny imo when you're desperate to talk to someone.

It's unfortunate we have to resort to such services. But, if it helps, I'm all for it. Just make sure it's a last resort.
