EDD payment timeline: Sunday certification to bank deposit timeframe?
Just completed my bi-weekly certification this morning (Sunday) and wondering about the payment timeline. Will the funds hit my bank account tomorrow (Monday) or should I expect it Tuesday? I have direct deposit set up and usually get paid pretty quickly after certifying, but I can never remember exactly how many business days it takes. I need to pay rent this week so trying to plan accordingly. Anyone know the current processing time from Sunday certification to deposit?

In my experience, when I certify on Sunday morning the payment usually processes overnight and shows as 'paid' in UI Online by Monday morning. Then it takes another business day for the money to actually hit my bank account, so Tuesday is most likely. But it can depend on your bank too - some process ACH transfers faster than others.

•Thanks! Just checked my UI Online and it still says 'pending' so I'm a bit nervous. Hoping it changes to paid by tomorrow morning.

It really depends on what time you certified on Sunday and whether there are any flags on your account. If you certified early Sunday morning and have no pending issues, it typically shows as 'paid' in the system by Monday and deposits Tuesday. If you certified later in the day Sunday or have any issues that need manual review, it might take longer. Have you checked your UI Online to see if it shows 'pending' or 'paid' status?

•Yeah, still showing 'pending' which is making me anxious. I certified around noon, so maybe that's why? No issues that I know of though.

•Thanks, that's reassuring! As long as it's still Tuesday I can make my rent payment on time.

My payments always take 3-4 days to show up in my account after certifying. EDD might process it quickly but my bank holds it for some reason. So frustrating!!!

•That could be your bank's policy for ACH transfers. Some banks place holds on electronic transfers, especially for unemployment benefits. You might want to ask your bank if they have a specific policy about government deposits.

If your certification is still showing as 'pending' by tomorrow afternoon, you might want to call EDD to check if there's an issue. Sometimes certifications get flagged for manual review if you reported earnings or answered a question in a way that triggers their system. Getting through to an EDD rep is nearly impossible though with the regular phone line. I had this exact problem last month and finally got through using Claimyr (claimyr.com). They helped me connect with an EDD agent in about 20 minutes instead of calling hundreds of times myself. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. The agent was able to clear the pending status right away once I explained my situation.

•Thank you! If it's still pending tomorrow afternoon I'll definitely try this. I can't afford to have any delays with this payment.

•Just checked again and mine is still pending :( I'm going to give it until tomorrow morning and then call if it doesn't change.

The timeline also depends on whether you're using the EDD debit card (Money Network) or direct deposit. Money Network payments sometimes appear slightly faster than direct deposit in my experience. And if this is your first payment after switching to direct deposit, it can take a little longer (up to 3 business days).

•I've been on direct deposit for about 6 months now, so that shouldn't be the issue. Thanks for the info though!

UPDATE: My payment finally switched from pending to paid this morning! The EDD website now says the payment was issued today (Monday) so hopefully it will be in my account tomorrow morning. Thanks everyone for your help!

•Great news! Yes, if it shows paid today then it should hit your account tomorrow. Glad it worked out!

That's awesome news! I'm glad your payment finally processed. I'm actually in a similar situation - certified yesterday around 2 PM and mine is still showing pending this morning. Your timeline gives me hope that it should switch to paid by tomorrow. Did you notice any specific time when it changed from pending to paid, or did you just happen to check at the right moment?

•I'm in the exact same boat! Certified Sunday afternoon and still showing pending as of this morning. Really hoping it switches to paid by tomorrow like yours did. The waiting is the worst part, especially when you have bills due. Thanks for sharing your timeline - it's reassuring to know others have had similar delays that resolved themselves.

•I checked around 9 AM this morning and that's when I noticed it had switched from pending to paid! I think it probably updated sometime overnight. For what it's worth, I've noticed that when I certify later in the day on Sunday (like after noon), it sometimes takes until Tuesday morning to show as paid instead of Monday. But once it switches to paid, the deposit timing is pretty consistent - usually the next business day.
