PFL appeal stuck in determination, no response. Need money ASAP. Help?

I submitted an appeal for my PFL claim but haven't heard anything back. It's still in determination state and I'm not sure what to do next. I really need the money. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to speed up the process or get a response?

I found a way to solve PFL claim appeal delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOzBhyVUfxQ

Ugh, I feel you. I was in the same boat last year. It's so frustrating when you're waiting for that money and they just leave you hanging. Have you tried calling them? Sometimes that's the only way to get any answers.

I've tried calling but can never get through. It's always busy or I'm on hold forever. 😫

Pro tip: call right when they open. Like, set an alarm and be ready to dial the second they're supposed to start answering phones. It's ridiculous we have to do this, but it worked for me.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed 🤞

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

I was skeptical too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth it IMO if you're desperate to talk to someone.

How long did it take for them to call you back? I'm considering trying this.

It took about 2 hours for me, but I've heard it can vary. Still way better than trying to call yourself all day!

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact them. 2. Send a follow-up letter via certified mail. This creates a paper trail. 3. Contact your local state representative. They often have liaisons who can help with EDD issues. 4. If all else fails, consider reaching out to a lawyer who specializes in employment law. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up!

This is solid advice. I'd add: check if there are any local legal aid organizations that might be able to help for free or low cost.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update info there without sending notifications. Also, make sure you didn't miss any mail from them asking for additional info.

I check it obsessively lol. No updates there and haven't received any mail. It's like they've forgotten about me.

I had a similar issue and what finally worked was contacting my state assembly member. Their office has direct lines to EDD and can often get things moving. Worth a shot!

Oh wow, I didn't even know that was an option. How do I find out who my assembly member is?

Just google '[your state] find my representative' and there should be a website where you can enter your address. Good luck!

idk if this helps but I got my issue resolved by blowing up their Twitter. Public shaming seems to work wonders these days 🙃
