EDD payment amounts suddenly changed - $2,018 to $576 and $1,297. What's going on?
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my disability payments and I'm hoping someone can help me out. I usually get $2,018 every two weeks, but my last two payments were different. I got $576 on the 19th and $1,297 on the 30th. My last normal payment of $2,018 was on December 16th. Does anyone know why this might be happening? I'm really confused and a bit worried. Has anyone else experienced something similar or know what could be causing this?

Ugh, the EDD strikes again! 🙄 I swear they're always messing something up. Have you tried calling them? Good luck getting through tho, it's like trying to win the lottery these days.

fr fr, calling EDD is a nightmare. I spent 3 hours on hold last week and then got disconnected 😤

I actually found a way to get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

20 bucks? Thats kinda steep just to make a phone call...

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it's legit. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

How long did it take for them to get someone on the line?

@profile 7 took about an hour and a half, but I was able to do other stuff while waiting instead of being stuck on hold

This happened to me last year. Turns out there was a glitch in their system that messed up the payment calculations. You definitely need to call and get it sorted out ASAP. The longer you wait, the more complicated it gets to fix.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes there are notices or explanations for payment changes there. Also, double-check that your claim dates are correct and that you didn't accidentally report any income that could have reduced your benefits.

Thanks for the suggestion! I checked my online account but didn't see any notices. And I'm pretty sure I didn't report any income. It's so frustrating not knowing what's going on.

Ugh, that sucks. Definitely sounds like you need to talk to someone then. Good luck!

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Write down all your payment amounts and dates. 2. Check your online account for any messages or status changes. 3. If you can, calculate how much you think you're owed based on your normal payment amount. 4. Call EDD (use that Claimyr thing if you need to, it's worth it) 5. When you talk to someone, be polite but firm. Ask them to explain the discrepancy. 6. If they can't give you a satisfactory answer, ask to speak to a supervisor. 7. Keep calling until you get it resolved. Don't let them brush you off. 8. If all else fails, contact your local state representative. They can sometimes help push things through. Remember, you're entitled to your full benefits. Don't let the system screw you over. Good luck!

Could it be because of the new year? Maybe there's some kind of reset or adjustment that happens in January? Just spitballing here.

Nah, I don't think so. My payments stayed the same through the new year. Must be something else.
