EDD only paid me for 1 day of 4-week family bonding leave. How to get full payment?
I'm so frustrated right now. I took family leave for bonding with my new baby, but I only got paid for one day out of the whole four weeks! My leave started mid-December and I went back to work in February, but when I checked my pay, it only showed payment for the first day. Has anyone else dealt with this? How do I get them to correct the dates and pay me for the full bonding period?

Ugh, that sucks! I had a similar issue last year. Have you tried calling the EDD office? Be prepared to wait on hold forever tho 🙄

I've been trying to get through for days! It's like they don't want us to actually talk to anyone 😤

Pro tip: call right when they open. Sometimes you can get through faster

This happened to me too! It took forever to get it sorted out. Here's what worked for me: 1. Document everything. Dates, times, who you talked to. 2. Send a written request through their online portal. 3. If that doesn't work, contact your local state representative. They can sometimes help push things through. 4. Be persistent! Don't let them forget about you. Good luck, OP! The system is a mess, but don't give up!

Thank you so much for the detailed advice! I'll definitely try all of this. Did it take long for you to get it resolved?

It took about 3 weeks of constant follow-up, but I finally got my full payment. Stay on them!

This is solid advice. I'd add: keep copies of all your paperwork too. You never know when they might 'lose' something 🙄

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

Yeah, it actually does! I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate. Got through in about an hour.

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 😡

I get it, but for me it was worth it. Saved me hours of frustration and got my issue resolved.

have you checked your online account? sometimes the info there is more up to date than what you get in the mail

This is why we need better parental leave policies in this country. It's a joke that we have to fight so hard for basic support 😤

For real. My cousin in Canada got a full year off, fully paid. We're so behind.

idk if this helps, but there was a glitch in the EDD system last month. Might be related to your issue. They posted about it on their Twitter.
