EDD only paid me for 1 day instead of 8 weeks - missing over $10k! Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my unemployment claim. I was only paid for one day, but I should've been paid for 8 weeks. The total amount I'm owed is over $10,000. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of issue? How did you get it resolved? I'm worried about missing out on such a large sum of money.

Ugh, that sucks! I had a similar problem last year. It took me forever to get it sorted out. Have you tried calling the unemployment office? Be prepared to wait on hold for hours tho 🙄

Yeah, I've been trying to call but can never get through. It's so frustrating! How long did it take you to resolve your issue?

It took me about 3 weeks of constant calling. I basically made it my full-time job to get ahold of someone. Keep trying, you'll get through eventually!

3 weeks?! That's insane. The system is so broken 😤

I found a way to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I'm skeptical. Why should we have to pay to talk to unemployment? That's ridiculous.

I get the skepticism, but it honestly saved me so much time and frustration. I was able to get my issue resolved in one call after weeks of trying on my own. For me, the $20 was worth it to get my benefits sorted out.

Have you tried contacting your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things through faster. Worth a shot!

Make sure you document EVERYTHING. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and any communication with the unemployment office. It'll help your case if you need to escalate it.

That's a great idea, thanks! I'll start doing that right away.

I'm in the same boat, OP. Been waiting on a large sum for months now. The system is so backed up, it's ridiculous. Hang in there!

Here's what worked for me: 1. File an appeal immediately if you haven't already. 2. Contact your state representative AND senator. Send them a detailed email explaining your situation. 3. Keep calling the unemployment office daily. Try different times - early morning or late afternoon sometimes works better. 4. Check if there's an online portal where you can submit questions or requests. Sometimes this is faster than calling. 5. If all else fails, consider seeking legal advice. Some lawyers offer free consultations for unemployment issues. It's a frustrating process, but don't give up. You're entitled to that money, and persistence usually pays off. Good luck!

Have you checked your claim status online? Sometimes there are messages or requests for additional information that you might miss if you're only trying to call.

Oof, $10k is a lot of money to be missing out on. Don't let them get away with this! Keep pushing until you get what you're owed.
