EDD PFL delay after pregnancy disability - timing issue between benefits?

I filed for paid family leave after my pregnancy disability ended, but I haven't received any benefits yet. I think there might be a problem with the timing between when my disability payments stopped and when my PFL should have started. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to get this sorted out with EDD?

Ugh, I'm in the same boat! It's so frustrating. I've been waiting for weeks and still nothing. Have you tried calling EDD? It's a nightmare to get through, but it might be your best bet.

I've tried calling but can never get through. It's like they don't want us to reach them 🙄

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold that way!

30 minutes? You got lucky! I was on hold for 3 hours last time 😭

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

Yeah, it actually does! I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate. Got through in about 2 hours without having to sit by my phone.

$20 just to talk to someone? The system is so broken 🤦‍♀️

I know, it sucks we have to pay. But for me, it was worth it to finally get answers.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Write down the exact dates your disability ended and when you filed for PFL. 2. Check your EDD account online. Sometimes there are messages or requests for additional info there. 3. If you can't get through on the phone, try sending a secure message through your EDD account. 4. If all else fails, contact your local state representative. They often have staff dedicated to helping with EDD issues. 5. Don't give up! Keep pushing until you get answers. I went through this last year and it took about 6 weeks to sort out, but I eventually got all my benefits. Hang in there!

Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try the secure message option.

Contacting your state rep is key! They helped me resolve my issue in just a week after months of getting nowhere with EDD directly.

This happened to me too! Turns out there was a glitch in their system and my claim got stuck in limbo. Keep calling and don't let them brush you off. Ask to speak to a tier 2 specialist if the first person can't help.

What's a tier 2 specialist? Never heard of that before.

They're the more experienced agents who can handle complex cases. Regular agents often can't see or fix certain issues in the system.

Has anyone tried faxing their documents? I know it sounds ancient, but I've heard it can sometimes get faster results than mailing or uploading online.

Faxing in 2023? Might as well send a carrier pigeon 🐦 lol
