EDD PFL Nightmare: Unprofessional Agents & Employee Benefits at Risk - Help!
I'm having issues with my Paid Family Leave claim and I'm really frustrated with the EDD. I've been trying to get in touch with them but it's been a nightmare. Has anyone else had problems with unprofessional agents? I feel like I'm not getting the help I need and I'm worried about my employee not getting what they deserve. Any advice on how to handle this situation?

Ugh, I feel your pain! The EDD can be such a headache to deal with. I've had my fair share of unprofessional agents too. Have you tried escalating your issue to a supervisor? Sometimes that can help get things moving.

I haven't tried that yet. How do I ask for a supervisor? Do I just demand to speak to one?

Yeah, just politely but firmly ask to speak with a supervisor. If they give you pushback, explain that your issue hasn't been resolved and you need additional assistance. Good luck!

Be prepared to wait tho. When I asked for a supervisor, they put me on hold for like an hour 🙄

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

I was skeptical at first too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. The $20 was worth it to finally get my issue resolved.

Idk man, paying to talk to a government agency feels wrong. Shouldn't this be free?

I get where you're coming from, but after weeks of trying to get through, I was desperate. It's not ideal, but it got the job done.

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They can sometimes help expedite EDD claims and get you in touch with the right people.

The whole system is broken af 🤬 I've been dealing with PFL issues for months now. It's like they don't even care about us regular folks trying to make ends meet.

It's not just PFL, the entire unemployment system is a joke. I'm still waiting on my claim from last year!

Here's what I've learned from dealing with EDD for Paid Family Leave claims: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, including date, time, and who you spoke with. 2. Be persistent. Sometimes you have to call multiple times to get the right person. 3. Use the online portal when possible. It's often faster than calling. 4. Know your rights. Familiarize yourself with PFL regulations so you can advocate for yourself. 5. If you're getting nowhere, consider contacting your state representative or filing a formal complaint. 6. Be polite but firm with agents. They're often overworked and understaffed. 7. Double-check all your paperwork before submitting. Small errors can cause big delays. Hope this helps! Hang in there, OP. The system is tough, but you'll get through it.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely start keeping better records of my calls. Do you have any tips for filing a formal complaint if it comes to that?

Sure thing! To file a formal complaint, go to the EDD website and look for the 'Contact EDD' section. There should be a form for filing complaints. Be specific about your issue and include all relevant details. Good luck!

Have you tried contacting them through social media? Sometimes tweeting at them or messaging on Facebook can get a quicker response.

Unprofessional agents are the worst. I had one hang up on me mid-sentence last week. Like, do your job??? We're not calling for fun, we need help!

Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. You're more likely to get through and the agents are usually less frazzled.

What time do they open? Asking for a friend (the friend is me, I'm the friend) 😅
