EDD: Impossible to reach anyone on phone. How to actually get unemployment money?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat a few months ago. It's like they purposely make it hard to reach them! Have you tried calling right when they open? That sometimes worked for me.

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Have you tried reaching out on social media? Sometimes tweeting at them or messaging on Facebook can get a response.

This whole system is so broken. It's ridiculous that we have to jump through hoops just to get the money we're entitled to. The government needs to fix this ASAP!

Here's what worked for me after weeks of trying: 1. Call exactly at 8:01 AM when they open. 2. If you get a busy signal, hang up and immediately redial. 3. Keep doing this for at least 30 minutes. 4. If you get through, DO NOT hang up no matter what. 5. Be prepared with all your info (claim number, ID, etc.) 6. Be polite but firm with the rep. It took me about 3 days of doing this, but I finally got through and got my issue resolved. Good luck!

I heard they're implementing a new callback system soon. Might be worth waiting for that if you can hold out a bit longer.
