If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

did anyone have issue with getting the full 8 weeks of baby bonding? i heard they sometimes only approve 6 weeks and you have to fight for the other 2?

0 coins

California PFL provides 8 full weeks of baby bonding benefits. If you're only seeing 6 weeks approved, it's usually due to one of these issues: 1. Incorrect date calculation (particularly common if you had State Disability Insurance before PFL) 2. Confusion with the older program rules (it used to be 6 weeks before 2020) 3. An actual system error If you're approved for less than 8 weeks, call EDD immediately to have it corrected. This is a common error that they can usually fix without a formal appeal.

Update: My PFL claim was just approved this morning! That was faster than I expected based on everyone's comments. Looks like I'll receive my first payment next week. Thanks to everyone for the helpful advice - I left my disability claim alone and everything processed smoothly on its own.

That's great news! Enjoy your baby bonding time!

Just an update for you - I checked my records from my pregnancy last year. My timeline was: - Doctor submitted SDI claim: February 15, 2024 - Claim showed as "received" online: February 22 - Claim approved: February 28 - EDD Debit card arrived: March 5 - First payment on card: March 7 So about 3 weeks total from submission to money in hand. But knowing exactly when your doctor submitted is critical. They told me they submitted it one day, but when I called EDD, they hadn't received it until a week later. Doctors' offices can be very busy and sometimes paperwork sits on someone's desk.

This is super helpful, thank you! I'm going to call my doctor's office tomorrow and get the exact date they submitted it, and ask for some kind of confirmation. I really appreciate everyone's advice!

hey just wondering when your baby is due? my sister said if its less than 9 weeks away you should be ok money-wise because they backpay you from when dr took you off work, but if its further out than that you might wanna look into emergency assistance programs just in case

I'm due December 12, so about 10 weeks. That's a good point about backpay! I didn't know they do that.

did u do paper or online application? heard paper is slower

I did everything online, so hopefully that helps speed things up a little.

Just an update for anyone reading this thread - I checked with a friend who works at an HR department that processes a lot of EDD claims, and she confirmed they're seeing 4-5 week processing times consistently for PFL baby bonding claims right now. Sadly, this delay seems to be the new normal, especially for claims transitioning from pregnancy disability to PFL. One thing that might help: if you're experiencing serious financial hardship, you can submit a request for expedited processing. You'll need to speak with a representative and explain your situation, but they can flag your claim for faster review if you're at risk of things like eviction, utility shutoffs, or inability to buy necessities.

Thank you for checking! That's really helpful. I'll definitely try to get through to request expedited processing since I'm genuinely worried about making rent. Appreciate everyone's advice here - at least I know I'm not alone in dealing with these delays.

claimyr actually works really well, i used it last month when my disability claim was stuck pending for 3 weeks. paid like $20 and got through to edd in 15 mins when i had been trying for days. the person i talked to fixed my claim right away. def worth it when ur desperate

That's good to hear it worked for you too. I was hesitant at first, but after spending hours getting disconnected from EDD, it was worth it to finally get someone on the phone who could help. Saved me weeks of waiting.

I've worked in HR for 10 years and see this confusion ALL THE TIME. Let me clarify a few things: 1. When you stop working due to pregnancy (whether before or after birth), you start with STATE DISABILITY INSURANCE (SDI). 2. For a vaginal delivery, SDI covers up to 4 weeks before birth and 6 weeks after birth. For C-section, it's 8 weeks after. 3. After SDI ends, THEN you can transition to PFL for baby bonding (up to 8 weeks). Your mistake was filing for PFL first instead of SDI. But this is fixable! Call EDD and explain that you misunderstood the process. Ask them to: 1. Process your SDI claim for 2/28/25 to approximately 4/21/25 (6 weeks post-vaginal delivery) 2. Then file a PFL claim for any remaining time before you return to work You'll need to provide medical documentation, but you should get backpay for everything once it's sorted out.

Thank you so much for the clear explanation! This makes perfect sense now. I'll definitely call EDD first thing tomorrow with this information. I really appreciate everyone's help - this community is amazing!

my sister tried to go from UI to SDI last year and they denied her SDI claim saying she wasn't eligible because she was already getting UI. had something to do with being "unemployed" vs "disabled" and you can't be both. anyone else run into this?

0 coins

That situation usually happens when someone tries to collect both benefits simultaneously or didn't properly stop UI before starting SDI. To clarify for everyone: You cannot receive UI and SDI for the same period because UI requires you to be able to work, while SDI requires you to be unable to work due to disability (including pregnancy). However, you can stop UI, transition to SDI for pregnancy, then to PFL for bonding, and then return to UI if you meet all eligibility requirements at each stage. The key is proper timing of applications and certifications to avoid overlap.

ah ok makes sense. she probably messed up the timing. thx for explaining!

Thank you all SO MUCH for all this helpful information! I feel much more confident about my plan now: 1. Continue UI until 36 weeks 2. Stop certifying for UI completely before applying for SDI 3. Apply for SDI at 36 weeks with my doctor's help 4. After birth and recovery (likely 8 weeks with c-section), apply for PFL for 8 weeks of baby bonding 5. If I haven't found a job by then, return to UI but make sure I have childcare arrangements to be "available for work" I've made a note on my calendar to talk to my doctor about the DE2501 form at my 32-week appointment. This community has been incredible - thank you again for saving me from potentially making costly mistakes!
