Unemployment claim pending, facing eviction. HELP!
I'm freaking out right now. My unemployment claim is still pending processing and I'm about to be evicted. Has anyone else been in this situation? What should I do?

Oh man, I've been there. It's a terrible feeling. Have you tried contacting your landlord to explain the situation? Sometimes they can be understanding if you show them proof that you're waiting on unemployment.

•I tried talking to my landlord, but they're not being very flexible. They said they've heard too many excuses already. 😞

•That sucks. Some landlords are just heartless. Have you looked into local eviction moratoriums? There might still be some protections in place.

•I'll look into that, thanks for the suggestion!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at the unemployment office. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

•How long did it take for them to call you back?

•It took about 2 hours for me, but I've heard it can vary depending on how busy they are. Still way better than trying to call yourself all day!

The whole system is broken af. I've been waiting for 3 months now and still nothing. It's like they want us to be homeless 🤬

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a record of all your attempts to contact the unemployment office. 2. Reach out to your local state representative or senator. They often have staff dedicated to helping with unemployment issues. 3. Check if there are any local non-profit organizations that can help with rent assistance or legal aid for eviction prevention. 4. File an appeal if your claim is denied. Don't give up! 5. Consider taking a temporary job or gig work while you wait for your claim to process. 6. Look into food banks and other community resources to help stretch your budget. Hang in there, OP. It's a tough situation, but you're not alone in this.

•This is solid advice. I'd add that you should also check r/legaladvice for more specific help with eviction laws in your area.

This is why we need universal basic income. The current system is a joke.

•UBI would just make everyone lazy. We need better job programs instead.
