EDD doctor says I can work, my doctor disagrees. Help with disability appeal?

I'm so frustrated with my disability appeal. The EDD doctor said I could work, but my own doctor says I can't. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I do now?

Ugh, I've been there. It's like they don't even listen to our actual doctors 🙄 Have you tried getting a second opinion from another specialist? That helped me win my appeal.

I hadn't thought of that. Did you use the same type of specialist or a different one?

I went to a different specialist in the same field. It gave more weight to my case. Good luck!

This is solid advice. EDD tends to take multiple medical opinions more seriously.

The whole system is rigged against us, I swear. I've been fighting with EDD for months now. It's like talking to a brick wall.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Get all your medical records together, including your doctor's statement. 2. Write a detailed appeal letter explaining why you disagree with the EDD doctor's assessment. 3. Include any new medical evidence if possible. 4. Consider getting a disability advocate or lawyer to help with your case. 5. Submit everything before the deadline - don't be late! 6. Prepare for a hearing - you might need to testify. 7. Stay persistent and don't give up! Remember, many people win on appeal. It's a frustrating process, but hang in there!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at EDD. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

Yeah, it actually does! I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time.

$20 seems steep just to make a phone call...

I get that, but consider how much time you spend on hold. For me, it was worth it to finally talk to someone.

have you tried contacting your local assembly member? they can sometimes help speed things up with EDD. worth a shot!

I didn't even know that was an option. How do I find out who my assembly member is?

Just google '[your city] assembly member' and it should come up. Most have forms on their websites for constituent services.

Has anyone tried those disability claim services that help with appeals? Are they worth it or just a waste of money?

I used one and it was hit or miss. They helped with paperwork but weren't miracle workers. Still lost my first appeal.

Depends on the service. Some are great, others are scams. Do your research before paying anyone!

Protip: Keep a detailed log of all your symptoms, doctor visits, and how your condition affects your daily life. It can really strengthen your case!

That's a great idea. I'll start doing that right away. Thanks!
