EDD disability payments 20+ days late AGAIN - anyone else dealing with this?

Hey everyone, I'm really frustrated with my disability payments. They've been consistently late for the past couple months. My last payment was delayed by 20 days, and now it's happening again. It's been over 20 days since I was supposed to receive my payment. Has anyone else been dealing with this? I'm worried about how I'm going to pay my bills. Any advice on how to handle this or who to contact would be really appreciated.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been dealing with the same issue for months now. It's like they don't understand that we rely on these payments to survive. Have you tried calling the EDD office? It's a nightmare to get through, but sometimes it's the only way to get answers.

Calling EDD is like trying to win the lottery šŸŽ° I spent hours on hold last week and still got nowhere

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes of hold time that way!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

I know it sounds crazy, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Sometimes you gotta spend money to make money, ya know?

How long did it take for them to call you back?

It took about 2 hours, but I just went about my day and they called when an agent was ready. Way better than being stuck on hold!

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things along with EDD. It's worth a shot!

I've been dealing with this for MONTHS. It's absolutely ridiculous. Here's what I've learned: ā€¢ Document everything. Keep a log of when payments were supposed to arrive and when they actually did. ā€¢ Send a formal complaint in writing. Use certified mail so you have proof they received it. ā€¢ If you're really in a bind, reach out to local charities or churches. Some offer emergency assistance. ā€¢ Join Facebook groups for disability claimants. Sometimes they have insider info on what's causing delays. ā€¢ Consider contacting a disability rights lawyer if things don't improve. Hang in there, OP. The system is broken, but we're all in this together. šŸ’Ŗ

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely start documenting everything. Do you have any recommendations for disability rights lawyers?

Glad to help! For lawyers, try contacting your state's Bar Association. They often have referral services for specific types of law. Just be prepared, legal help can get expensive fast.

This is why we need to vote for better leadership. The whole system is a joke. They expect us to live on air while they take their sweet time processing our claims. šŸ¤¬

Preach! šŸ™Œ It's time for some serious reform in how disability claims are handled.

Yeah, but who's actually gonna do anything about it? Politicians only care when it's election time šŸ™„

Hey OP, sorry youre going through this. I work in social services (not EDD tho) and heres a tip: sometimes if you mention that youre facing potential homelessness or inability to buy food/medicine due to the delay, it can flag your case for expedited processing. Don't lie, but if this is true for you, make sure to emphasize it.

That's really helpful, thank you! It's getting to that point, so I'll definitely mention it next time I call.

Have you considered reaching out to local news stations? Sometimes public pressure can work wonders. Just a thought!

This! I saw a story on channel 5 last week about EDD delays. Maybe they'd be interested in doing a follow-up?
