EDD claim filed but no money received - how to track down payment?

Hey everyone, I'm getting really frustrated with EDD. I filed a claim a while back and I still haven't received my money. Has anyone else had this problem? I've been trying to contact them but it's impossible to get through. Any advice on how to find out where my money is or how to speed up the process?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat a few months ago. Have you checked your UI Online account? Sometimes there are updates or messages there that explain whats going on with your claim.

Yeah, I've been checking my account every day. No updates, no messages, nothing. It's like my claim just disappeared into thin air 😤

That sucks man. Maybe try reaching out to your local assembly member? I've heard they can sometimes help push things along with EDD.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give that a shot. At this point, I'm willing to try anything!

The EDD system is such a joke. They're probably sitting on your money and collecting interest while you're struggling to make ends meet. It's disgraceful how they treat people.

Have you tried calling them? I know its a pain, but sometimes you just gotta keep trying until you get through.

I've been trying to call for weeks. Always get the same message about high call volume and to try again later. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. That's how I finally got through after weeks of trying.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

I was skeptical at first too, but I can confirm it's legit. Used it twice now and got through both times. Saved me hours of frustration.

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 🤦‍♂️

I get it, but for me, it was worth it. Time is money, and I was wasting so much time trying to get through on my own.

Here's what I did to finally get my money: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact EDD. 2. Send a written request for information about your claim via certified mail. 3. File a complaint with the EDD Audit and Evaluation Division. 4. Contact your state representative and senator. 5. If all else fails, consider filing a lawsuit against EDD for unreasonable delay. It took me about 2 months, but I finally got my backpay. Don't give up!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely start working on these steps. Did you use any specific templates for the written request or complaint?

Happy to help! I just wrote a simple letter stating the facts: when I filed, how long I've been waiting, and my attempts to contact them. For the complaint, there's a form on the EDD website. Good luck!

This is why we need a complete overhaul of the unemployment system. It's not just EDD, it's broken in every state. We need to demand better from our government!

Preach! 🙌 The whole system is a dinosaur. It's 2023, why can't they get their act together?
