EDD Disability Claim Filed Over a Month Ago - No Updates, Website Shows "No Claims Pending". What to Do?
I filed for disability after having surgery and I've been off work for a while now. It's been over a month and I still haven't heard anything back from EDD. When I check online, it shows that I filed the claim (I have a receipt number), but there are "No claims pending". Has anyone else experienced this? I'm getting worried because I need to know the status of my claim and if they need anything else from me. Any advice on what to do next?

Ugh, I feel your pain. The EDD system is a total nightmare rn. I went through something similar last year. Here's what worked for me: 1. Keep calling them every day. I know it sucks, but persistence is key. 2. Check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes their emails end up there. 3. If you have a disability case worker, try contacting them directly. 4. Double-check that you submitted all required docs. Sometimes they need extra stuff and don't tell you. 5. Consider reaching out to your local state representative. They can sometimes help push things along. Hang in there! It's frustrating, but keep at it. 💪

This is solid advice. I'd add that you should document EVERYTHING. Every call, email, letter. It'll help if you need to escalate later.

Thanks for the detailed advice! I'll definitely try all of these. Didn't even think about checking my spam folder, good call!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20? That's highway robbery! The government should make it easier to reach them without having to pay extra 😡

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

How long did you have to wait after using the service?

It took about 2 hours, but I just went about my day and got a call when an agent was ready. Way better than being stuck on hold myself!

This happened to me too! Turns out they had my address wrong in the system so all the mail was going to my old place. Double check your contact info is correct on file.

Hey now, don't insult monkeys like that. They could probably design a better site 🐒💻

I'm in the same boat. Filed 2 months ago and still nothing. This system is so broken its not even funny anymore. Anyone know if there's a class action lawsuit we can join? 🤔

Pro tip: if you can, go to an EDD office in person. I know it's a pain, but I got more done in one visit than I did in weeks of calling and emailing.

This! Face-to-face always seems to work better. Just be prepared for a loooong wait.

Thanks for the suggestion. Do you know if I need to make an appointment first?

When I went, it was first-come, first-served. But it might vary by location. Couldn't hurt to call and check!
