CalWORKs case disappeared from BenefitsCal website - all benefits missing from account

Freaking out right now! I logged into my BenefitsCal account this morning and EVERYTHING is gone. My CalWORKs, CalFresh, and Medi-Cal cases have all completely disappeared. My CalWORKs was actually ending this month but it should still show in my account history. Yesterday I had like 30+ messages and notices in my inbox and now that's completely empty too. The system is showing a blank slate like I never had benefits at all! Has anyone else experienced this? I need to report income changes for my remaining benefits and now I can't access anything. I tried calling but got stuck in the automated phone system for 40 minutes before getting disconnected. Is this a glitch or did someone delete my account?? My rent is due next week and I need to make sure my remaining benefits are still active!

It's likely a system glitch. BenefitsCal has been having MAJOR technical issues since they did that update last Tuesday. My worker actually warned me about this - they're migrating data to a new system and accounts are temporarily showing as empty. She said it might take 24-48 hours for everything to appear correctly again. I'd suggest taking screenshots if it continues, but give it until tomorrow before panicking.

Thanks for letting me know! I hope you're right. I don't remember getting any notice about an update. Do you know if this means my benefits are still processing normally in the background? I'm worried my CalFresh won't reload next week if they can't see my account.

That's so strange that it's happening to some accounts but not others. Did you try calling? I wonder if we should go to the office in person to make sure our benefits aren't actually canceled.

This happened during their last system update too. BenefitsCal is terrible with these migrations. Your case information is most likely safe in their main database - the website is just not displaying it correctly. For your peace of mind, I'd recommend trying these steps: 1. Clear your browser cache and cookies 2. Try logging in from a different device if possible 3. Check if you can access the mobile app version (sometimes it works when the website doesn't) 4. Log in during non-peak hours (early morning or late evening) If it's not resolved by tomorrow, you should definitely call your county office and speak with your assigned worker directly. The main call center staff often don't have updated information about these technical issues.

I tried clearing my cache and even tried a different browser but still nothing. The mobile app gives me the same blank account. I'll try again tonight and hope it's fixed by tomorrow. The timing is so bad with my reporting deadline coming up!

I work for a community organization that helps people with benefits, and we've had SEVERAL clients report this exact issue since yesterday. The county workers told us it's a system-wide glitch affecting about 15% of accounts. They're aware of it and working on a fix. Your benefits ARE still active in their system - this is just a display issue with the website/app. If you have upcoming reporting deadlines, they said they're automatically extending them by 10 days for anyone affected by this glitch. Your CalFresh benefits should still load on your regular date. If you need immediate confirmation about your case status, try using Claimyr.com to get through to a live person at the county. It helps you skip the phone queue and connects you directly to a worker who can verify your benefits are still active. I've had clients use their video demo (https://youtu.be/jzISHxCPLwE) and get through in minutes when the regular line had 2+ hour waits. With your rent coming up, I'd recommend getting that peace of mind.

Thank you for this info! Such a relief to hear it's a known issue and my benefits should still be okay. I'll try that Claimyr service if it's not fixed by tomorrow - I definitely need confirmation before my rent is due.

That's good advice about documentation. Even though this is likely just a temporary website issue, it's always smart to keep records of these things in case you need to prove later that you tried to report changes or access your account.

Could it possibly be that you accidentally created a new account instead of logging into your existing one? I did that once because the login page looks so similar to the registration page. Maybe try logging in with different email addresses if you have more than one? Just checking all possibilities!

I double-checked and I'm definitely in my original account - I can see my name and info in the profile section, just all my cases and history are gone. Good thought though!

Does anyone know if this affects upcoming interviews? I have my CalWORKs recertification interview tomorrow but can't see any of my case details or the appointment information anymore. Should I still call at the scheduled time?

•

YES! Definitely call at your scheduled time. The workers still have access to the full system on their end, so your interview should proceed as normal. If possible, call about 15 minutes early just to make sure you get through given all these technical issues. Missing an interview can result in benefits being discontinued, so don't skip it because of the website problems.

UPDATE: My account is back to normal this morning! All my cases, history, and messages reappeared. For anyone else experiencing this, it does seem to be just a temporary glitch. Thanks everyone for your help and reassurance!

So glad to hear your account is back to normal! This whole situation really highlights how stressful these technical glitches can be, especially when you're relying on these benefits for basic needs like rent and food. It's reassuring that the community here was able to provide support and accurate information about what was happening. For future reference, I'm definitely going to bookmark that Claimyr service mentioned earlier - having a way to quickly reach a live person during emergencies like this could be really valuable. Thanks for updating us with the resolution!

Absolutely agree about bookmarking that Claimyr service! As someone new to navigating these systems, this whole thread has been incredibly helpful. It's scary how dependent we are on these websites working properly, especially when benefits are literally keeping a roof over our heads. I'm definitely going to start taking screenshots of my account regularly now - seems like a smart practice given how these technical issues keep happening. Really appreciate how supportive everyone was here in sharing information and reassuring each other during what could have been a really panic-inducing situation!

This is exactly why I always recommend keeping physical copies of important benefit documents! When I first started receiving CalWORKs, my caseworker told me to print out my award letters, case summaries, and any important notices because "computer systems fail, but paper doesn't disappear." I keep a folder with all my benefit paperwork at home just in case something like this happens. It's saved me multiple times when I've needed to reference case numbers or dates during phone calls. For anyone reading this - even though Dylan's account is back now, consider downloading and printing your key documents when the system is working normally. That way if this happens again, you'll at least have your case information on hand to reference when calling the county office.

That's such smart advice about keeping physical copies! I'm definitely going to start doing this. As someone who just joined this community, I'm learning so much about navigating these systems. The whole experience Dylan went through really shows how vulnerable we can be when technology fails. I never thought about printing out award letters and case summaries, but it makes total sense - especially for important things like case numbers and benefit amounts that you might need to reference quickly during phone calls. Thanks for sharing this tip! It's reassuring to see how this community looks out for each other with practical advice like this.

Wow, this whole situation is such a good reminder of how important it is to have backup plans when dealing with government benefit systems! I'm relatively new to receiving CalWORKs and this thread has been eye-opening. The fact that 15% of accounts were affected by this glitch is pretty significant - that's a lot of families potentially panicking about their benefits disappearing right when they need them most. I'm definitely going to follow the advice about keeping physical copies of documents and bookmarking that Claimyr service. It's also reassuring to see how quickly this community rallied to help Dylan figure out what was happening and provide practical solutions. The stress of thinking your benefits just vanished overnight must have been overwhelming, especially with rent due. Really glad everything worked out and thanks to everyone who shared their knowledge and experiences here!

This whole thread really opened my eyes to how precarious these systems can be! As someone just getting familiar with CalWORKs, I had no idea that technical glitches like this were somewhat common. It's honestly terrifying to think about logging in one day and seeing everything gone - especially when you're counting on those benefits for basic survival needs. The community response here has been amazing though. Seeing everyone jump in with practical advice, reassurance, and actual solutions like the Claimyr service really shows the value of having these support networks. I'm definitely taking notes on all the suggestions - keeping physical copies, taking screenshots regularly, and having backup ways to contact caseworkers. Thanks to Dylan for sharing the experience and keeping us updated, and to everyone who contributed helpful information. This is exactly the kind of real-world knowledge you can't get from official websites!

This entire experience really highlights how stressful and unpredictable these benefit systems can be! I'm new to this community and just started receiving CalWORKs last month, so reading about Dylan's situation was both terrifying and educational. The idea of waking up to find all your benefits seemingly vanished is my worst nightmare - especially when you're already dealing with the stress of transitioning off assistance programs. What really impressed me was how quickly everyone here jumped in with helpful information and reassurance. The suggestion about Claimyr is something I'd never heard of before, and knowing there's a way to bypass those endless phone queues could be a lifesaver in situations like this. I'm definitely going to start implementing all the advice shared here - printing important documents, taking regular screenshots, and keeping better records. It's unfortunate that we have to work around these technical failures, but at least we have this community to learn from each other's experiences. Thanks Dylan for sharing your update and letting us know it was resolved - that gave me a lot of peace of mind as someone new to navigating these systems!

Welcome to the community, Nia! Your response really captures how jarring this whole situation must be for someone just starting with these benefits. This thread has been such a great example of why communities like this are so valuable - when official systems fail, having people who've been through similar experiences can make all the difference between panic and finding solutions. The Claimyr service recommendation was completely new to me too, and it's exactly these kinds of practical tips that you just can't find in official guides or websites.
