Will my Summer P-EBT reload be the same amount as the under-6 P-EBT cards in San Diego?

I just got a letter about Summer P-EBT benefits - it says I'll receive $120 for my child here in San Diego County. I'm wondering if anyone knows if this is going to be the same system as the P-EBT cards for kids 6 and under that got automatically reloaded last time? Will they just add funds to the existing P-EBT card we have from before, or are they sending new cards? Also curious if the amount is standard for everyone or if it varies by household situation. Thanks for any info!

my kid got the same letter with $120 amount, i think thats the standard summer amount for all kids in school lunch program. not sure about the reloading part tho

Thanks! Yeah, it's the reloading part I'm really confused about. Don't want to lose track of the card if they're using the old one.

The $120 is the standard Summer P-EBT 2025 benefit amount for children in California's National School Lunch Program. If you already have a P-EBT card from previous distributions, they will reload the existing card rather than sending a new one. Make sure your address is current with the school district so any communications reach you correctly. You can check your balance by calling the number on the back of your P-EBT card or through the EBT Edge mobile app after the scheduled distribution date (should be in your letter).

Thank you so much! That's exactly what I needed to know. I'll double check our address with the school just to be safe.

The differences in amount usually depend on when the child's school let out for summer break and local eligibility factors. $120 is the standard base amount for Summer P-EBT 2025 in California, but some children qualify for higher amounts based on their specific circumstances and eligibility period.

I never got my kid's P-EBT from LAST summer even though they qualified! Called the P-EBT hotline like 30 times and it always disconnects after 45 minutes of waiting. So frustrated with this whole system. Anyone have any luck actually getting through to a real person??

Have you tried Claimyr? I was in the same boat last month trying to reach someone about my kid's missing P-EBT card. Their service calls the P-EBT hotline for you and gets you connected to a real person without the wait. Saved me hours of frustration. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 - was totally worth it to finally get answers.

P-EBT is different from CalFresh, just FYI. P-EBT is specifically for kids who would normally get free/reduced lunch at school, while CalFresh is for household food benefits. You might want to check the P-EBT specific website for the most accurate info since the programs have different rules.

Thanks for clarifying! I think that's part of why I'm confused. We get regular CalFresh benefits on one card, and then my child has the P-EBT card from when schools were closed. Just wasn't sure if the summer benefit would go on the regular EBT or the special P-EBT card.

It'll definitely go on the P-EBT card, not your regular CalFresh EBT card. They're completely separate systems!

The Summer P-EBT 2025 program will automatically reload existing P-EBT cards for eligible children. The $120 amount is the standard benefit for school-aged children who receive free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program. The funds should appear on your existing P-EBT card according to the schedule in your notification letter, typically based on the first letter of the child's last name. If you've lost your P-EBT card, you should request a replacement immediately by calling the P-EBT Helpline at 877-328-9677.
